An amp to drive Sennheiser HE-60

Getting more frustrated about this whole thing. Sorry for the very crude question but what would be the least expensive way to listen anything from HE-60? What kind of price range do I need to look at to get one of high-biased Stax amp in used market?

    DIY amp for Sennheiser HE-60?

An amp to drive Sennheiser HE-60

Dear all I might have a chance to get a hold of HE-60 without HEV-70. Is it possible to purchase HEV-70? If so, do anyone have what would be the price? Considering the price for the combo, I don't think I can afford to buy HEV-70 even in case it is availble. Is there anyther amp to drive...

    Affordable source with balanced output?

Dear all I need an affordable source with balanced output. I am a NVH engineer working on the sound quality. At work, I have Sennheiser Eletrostatic headphones with appropriate amp. I am hoping to get a source to play some of my CD's. The problem is the amp only has balanced input. I don't...

Comparison of the big guns: HD-600 vs. RS-1

One good point about piano! Canman. I know in many cases people are taliking about Senn HD-600 for classical music. But piano just sounds much more exciting with my RS-2 compared to Senn HD 600. I am not talking about a piano concerto but a piano sonata. Jibra

    Earmax vs. Earmax Pro

With all due respect to markl, I have found out that EarMax (regular version) works like a small gem in my bedroom. I am not sure how loud the others listen to music but for me the volume is more than enough and I haven't heard any notorious distortion at my listening level. Just my $0.02. Jibra

    EarMax and EarMax Pro

Thanks for the opinions. I can't say much until I get the amp. But I know that the amp comes with the stock tubes. Can I assume that the all the talk about tube rolling with EMP will apply EM? Markl Which position did you start to hear the distortion? 12 p.m. or even before that? Jazz...

    EarMax and EarMax Pro

Did anyone make a direct comparison between EarMax and EarMax Pro with Sennheiser HD-600? I picked up the used EarMax and am waiting for the amp to arrive. There are many postings about EarMax Pro with HD-600 but not many for regular version of EarMax. I am curious about the difference between...

Daylight Saving Time...what's the freakin' point?

Russ is absolutely right. It had nothing to do with farmers. I am in Indiana and we don't do day light saving. I am sure that all people in US knows that Indiana is famous with its corn. Endless corn field. Endless ... boring ... nothing to do except listening to tunes and get a glass of beer...

How to shorten the reading of CD's on an MP3/CD discman

You definitely need to close your CDR. The other thing you can try is to use Nero and burn it as mp3 CD. Nero will check you mp3 files and detect some problems. This will be mostly true if you are burning CD with mp3 files from the net. (I am not saying that I am doing this. ) Jibra

Just wondering if B&O A8 is good or bad?

I have these. They are best to your eyes or other's eyes. They really look cool. But you can't see them while you are wearing. The only serious application for me is at the gym. I don't want to wear anything covering my ear when I am running on the treadmill. They will be soaked with my sweat...

    Grado SR60 or Senn 497

I owned grado 60 and still have Senn 497. IMO, you can just take the path of Grado. Senn 497 is not good for portable unit for the first. It really requires a power for decent sound. I am also a bit doubtful for Senn 497 with your type of music even with an amp. Have you tried any Grado...

Thanks for all insghtful and experienced suggestions. I read many good things about Nikon Coolpix 4000 but it is really out of my reach. I am seriously considering Dimage Dual Scan II which is sold around $250 online. Printer is my next concern. I first need a way to check my photos on...

how good is the bryston bp-25's headphone section?

I once listened to my friend's BP-20 with Senn 580 and 600. I made comparison with Creek SE. To my ears, Creek SE was better. It was not a long listening session, though. But I think I heard somewhat veiled sound with BP20. BTW, BP 20 and 25 should be the same unit except the remote control...

After a CD Player for under $US200

If you can find Parasound CDP-1000, go for it. I believe the transport section was made by Japanese company called CEC which is pretty much serious in this business. I am not sure whether Parasound tweaked the DAC section in this CDP. But it competes well with above 500 machines like SONY...

Want good DVD player with good CD playing.

If you don't need a progressive scan features, pioneer DV-05 or DV-09 might work for you. I recently got DV-05 and pleasantly surprised about its CD playback. Very noticeable improvement from my ex-Pioneer DV-414. Jibra

do bryston preamps have good headphone sections

I tried headphone jack on BP-20 of my friend's. I was not impressed. My friend was of the same opinion. We prefer Creek OBH-11 SE. He is considering to get Creek, I believe. BTW, we tried Senn HD 600, 580 as well as Grado. We didn't get good result with any of them on BP-20. Jibra
