No experience with the Questyle but I have owned a HA-1 almost from when it was first released. I use it with mainly with HD700 and Oppo PM-1 (tried the HD800s but the higher frequencies did not work for me, it was the headphone because I also have a Benchmark DAC3 HGC and got the same results)...

I can download Tidal albums to my iPod and can connect to the Oppo HA-1 with the lighting to USB connection and play  the albums either via headphones or from the HA-1 to my Parasound P5 preamp and then to amp and speakers.  I can also record the albums from the P5 because I have a CD recorder...

Works great with the Oppo HA-2 and HA-1 using Tidal files 44.1/16 and even in some cases Tidal 48/24 files.

I use the iPod 6 gen 128 GB as a source for misc. B&W headphones. and with a Oppo HA-2 amp. for Oppo PM-3.  Play Tidal Hi-Rz and FLAC player.

I agree with Subhakar, the iPod Touch 6g 128gig, HA-2 and Oppo PM-3 make a great combination.  I am also using Shure SHR1840 with this combo with so far great results (only received the Shure'sthis week).

You can only output SACD or DVD Audio as analog from any player.  If you are using optical out from The BDP 103 you are getting the RBCD layer from either the SACD or the DVD Audio.  When I play SACD or DVD Audio on my DBP-105 it is output via balanced analog cables to the HA-1 bypassing the DAC...
