    Sony MDR-7520

Haven't seen them on the market for a while, but my guess would be somewhere in the $200-250 range. Could be wrong, though.

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

I recently got a pair of Grado SR225x to act as a counterpart to the Sony MDR-7520 I have at home. So I've been comparing those a lot over the past few days, and both have their pros and cons. The 7520 have a lot of bass depth and really fantastic soundstage for closed headphones (not exactly...

No, I have this iSilencer+ plugged into the back of my computer, and a USB cable like this that connects the iSilencer+ to the IN 1 input on my S.M.S.L. Sanskrit 10th MKII. I have a separate USB cable that provides power to the AUX POWER input of the DAC using a USB power block.

I just use a cable that is USB A on one end and micro on the other.

That's correct: if only one USB cable is used (on the data input), then it draws the power as well. But if two separate cables are used (one for data and one for power), then the data input only draws... well, the data. So, in my setup, I have a USB power adapter on a mains strip that has a...

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

The Nano BL is a really wonderful piece of gear. I rate the sound quality on par with the Capella. I would use the Nano by itself, but I also have a turntable in that system, so the Nano is serving DAC duty into the Capella.

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

Yes, that's precisely it! The Amiron Home with the M-stage feels effortless and nimble, even at low volume levels.

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

The M-stage has swappable opamps, which is a nice feature. But the biggest thing is sheer control, which I imagine probably comes from headroom. Both the Nano and the Capella get plenty loud, even with the Amiron Home and AKG K-701, but that's all they really seem to do: get loud. The M-stage...

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

I mean... it does hold it's own against the Capella for overall sound quality, so that's saying quite a lot :beerchug: But the Capella can't really keep up with the M-stage either, and it's a dedicated desktop amp!

I'm using my Amiron Home with a Matrix M-stage (class A amp), which is considerably better controlled than either the iFi Nano iDSD Black Label or Beresford Capella.

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

I just want to say that I was in the office yesterday and got some nice time in with the Amiron Home in the afternoon. I'm still constantly impressed with just how good these headphones are across a wide range of genres, but especially with anything acoustic.

    Sony MDR-7520

After quite a bit of listening (Spotify "very high" and vinyl), the initial sound differences remain to my ear. Although the less defined bass is somewhat annoying, the improvement to sound stage size and imaging accuracy makes the Shure pads a more enjoyable listening experience to me. I...

    Sony MDR-7520

They really are fantastic headphones. I use them in my home office, but use Beyerdynamic Amiron Home in my actual office. Both are really great at what they do, and the Amirons are the most comfortable cans that have ever graced my noggin.

    Sony MDR-7520

There was some discussion of pad upgrades for the 7520 earlier on in the thread, but it kind of died out. Well, my stock pads were starting to flake pretty badly so I picked up some basic HPAEC440 pads for Shure SRH440 and I'm happy to report that they seem to be a net improvement over my aging...

These look so much smaller on me, and I've got the cups extended way further than this. I've got a large-ass head, I guess.

Honestly, just pull the trigger. If I lived in the US, I'd order a backup set at that price.

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

Yeah, that's a great price. Grab them! I bought a used pair (and not even in particularly fantastic condition) for £200 (about $260). And I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I only have one so far (single-ended 3.5mm cable for Sony MDR-7520), but I've been really happy with it.

That's right. Also, quick question for you. You would think that this answer would be easy to find online but IT IS NOT: which one is which? Are the balanced the ones with four holes or holes all the way around?

You've touted the analytical pads for Amiron, correct? Do you still feel that they provide a nice upgrade?
