Symphones Magnum upgrade for Grado SR325 and Alessandro MS2
Save your money. No point taking a step back. Spend it on a good source. The Magnum does everything well. But in particular.. to me.. is how realistically hi-hat and cymbals sound. I find that is what most headphones fail to reproduce well. The new "high-end" Grados are un-listenable to me...- looser101

Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Build Thread
The only way I deviated from Tom's build is the physically smaller coupling caps and the volume pot is ungrounded. C7/C8 not populated. Neither of these tubes hum. Rogers (Mullard) 6J6 on the left and RCA 5964 on the right. They're the only two pairs I have. ...- looser101

Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Build Thread
Don't know what it is about my build that may be different, but I can't detect any hum. Had it out to a mini meet last night and no one could hear any either. Sounds great with Grados, and can drive a K340 even though it could use a bit more gain (for quiet recordings). Thanks to Tom and Doug...- looser101

Clip+ DC offset
Did you measure with a load on the output? Headphones or dummy load? If you didn't, then you are just seeing a partial charge on the output caps, since it has no path for discharge- looser101

Very simple confirmation regarding power transformer
Shipping is killer on large transformers. Why not get what you want/need and go pick it up. Both Plitron and SumR are local (GTA). Plitron would probably be the easiest to get to from where you are.- looser101
