The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
I've now tried using MP3Tag to blank out all album field tags but now it just seems to be playing in an order without any discernable pattern. Edit, got it working. All I had to do to let the device know that if I'm browsing by folder it would be nice to playback by filename rather than...- analogue 3

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Didn't work. I looked a bit closer and it's actually playing by the Album tag rather than filename, even when browsing by directory. The fileformat is now for example: 01-Title-Artist.FLAC 02-Title-Artist.FLAC EDIT: Also tried fileformat like: 01 - Title-Artist.FLAC .....still...- analogue 3

changing now. Bear in mind the track numbers are part of the filename, not actually tags. I manually went and renamed copies of my tracks according to the sequence in my favourite playlists when I found out that the DX50 didn't support custom M3U/M3U8 etc playlists very well (as in compared to...- analogue 3

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
I'm using a 1.2.6 DX50 (arrived with latest firmware installed) and when I playback using folder/directory view, the DX50 is still playing by artist instead of by filename (filename format is tracknumber-title-artist.flac) The tracknumbers are all 3 digit sequence, i.e. 001 to 999. Any...- analogue 3

I couldn't wait to see if playlist issues are fixed in future updates. Wanted something for Christmas break. Will just have to go really old skool and use lots of folders for reliable 'playlists' like mixtapes/mixcds/mix-minidiscs back in the day, lol. Will end up with lots of duplicate files...- analogue 3

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Thanks, although note that since I browse by folder/filetree, I'll be adding whole folders rather than albums/artists. The below supports 3&5 which is irksome! Knowing each batch is physically identical is a load off my mind in case I end up purchasing from a domestic retailer/reseller. ...- analogue 3

Hi, prospective customer considering purchasing the DX50 to replace/complement my 3yr old ailing Cowon D3. I had a few questions which I've been trying to get info on in this thread, however I'd welcome up-to-date info given the frequent firmware updates. Using Rockbox as an App for Android...- analogue 3

Android phones and USB DACs
I'm fairly new to testing external DACS with Android devices and can only suggest the usual ideas I've come across: Does booting the Note 2 up while connected to the DAC via your OTG cable make any difference? What about connecting the DAC and Note 2 via a powered hub. Perhaps other people...- analogue 3

Android phones and USB DACs
Quote: I'd also appreciate an answer to this. Right now, I'd probably only bother buying a mini HDMI to HDMI solution (and a subsequent HDMI switcher for the monitor) to use with my android device so I can watch HD music videos on an external monitor. However, since the audio quality is...- analogue 3

REVIEW: Swan T200B Desktop Monitors
Great review. I'm actually considering getting a pair of these and this review was really helpful. Since my aim is to go straight from my DAC (XLR out) to the speakers, powered/active speakers look the way to go. Having said that, considering that these speakers have been out for 3 years or so...- analogue 3

Android phones and USB DACs
Random query. As I understand it, I can't use a port multiplier with an Android phone/pmp so that I can plug in both an external USB HDD and an external USB DAC. Something to do with the DAC being USB Host and the external storage something else, or vice versa. I definitely remember it being...- analogue 3

Bit Perfect Audio from Linux
Can anyone recommend a linux music player with bit perfect audio AND folder browsing? I've been using mediamonkey with asio/wasapi for sometime and really enjoy the option of browsing by folder when making custom playlists etc. Something with a similar GUI would be nice too. I would...- analogue 3

Quote: Dude, why not just use a headphone amp? Even just a tiny one. I haven't used an an-amped phone on it's own as a DAP since I was like 12. Then I discovered PMPs and got my first job to fund a purchase (an Archos Juke Box and paper round respectively, lol). Now decent dedicated PMPs...- analogue 3

Android phones and USB DACs
Quote: If Stock GS3/Note2 is "standard usb audio", then what is it that makes those devices incompatible or troublesome with USB Dacs like the CLAS -db, iBasso DB2 etc? Is it because those DACs are working on a USB device (e.g. PC like in the above table) which has a specific driver...- analogue 3

Quote: The only reason I really wanted to plug it into the (dual) XLR slot with a 1/4" to XLR adaptor was so that it locks into place. Although I suppose that my 1.4" plug going into an XLR adaptor would be 'unlocked' so perhaps it doesn't really make any difference. I know I'm losing...- analogue 3

Galaxy s3 and CA Dacmagic Plus?
Quote: Thanks! I'd asked this awhile back on the Dacmagic thread and had hoped to find out at some point whether or not the S3 (and therefore note2) work with the DM (not plus or the DM 100). I guess the only trade off is that the DM works better over SPDIF/Optical than USB- analogue 3

The Centrance HiFi M8 thread
I'm not sure how mini XLR works, however I can concur with what was mentioned on the blog. The way that XLR 'clicks' in securely makes it a very attractive choice - even if it's not being used with a balanced setup. IMO they just have a more reliable feel which is hopefully reflected in real...- analogue 3

Android phones and USB DACs
Quote: I'll try to suggest some ideas for this. If the CLAS -db had SPDIF input (perhaps in a future/custom version), I'm guessing that an easy way of then making the S3/Note 2 work with it (or any other DAC which accepts SPDIF/Optical) and still be a portable solution would be to use a...- analogue 3

New Cypher labs product!
Quote: An e-mmc/flash based 64gb S3(already available in Germany)/Note2(when released or from Korea now)+64gb microsd card is a very attractive alternative to a HDD 160gb ipod.
