Audiophile cables, an interesting question.
Sorry to drag up an earlier quote of mine but I felt like I had to reiterate... cables are boring. Nope. I hate to say this, but this is the same form as the anecdote referenced in the earlier video. You are relating an experience without giving enough details for someone to follow along or...- SpaceTimeMorph

Audiophile cables, an interesting question.
Quote: Only helps the wallet if it's natty ice . Anyway, cables are boring. I want to see a subjectivist's head try to wrap itself around something interesting like frequency compensation. Imagine the audiophile-isms that would come out of that conversation.- SpaceTimeMorph

Questions of Science and Progress?
@pdp Dark Matter/Energy as a unit in quantum/cosmological theories is a lot like a Thevenin block in an electrical circuit. It is an equivalent unit with defined (mostly) properties and a pretty well-understood mathematical representation. We aren't saying that is reality; just that there is...- SpaceTimeMorph

Questions of Science and Progress?
@pdp However, the limitation in the science is understood. As gregorio pointed out, perception is different from reality. We can measure cables to a high degree of accuracy. Goes in's either equal the goes out's or not. This is true with pretty much everything within the signal chain...- SpaceTimeMorph

Small Objective 2 Review
Quote: You know, it also cures cancer ;). Just thought I'd be the one to tell you. Quote: Definitely not. I just think that if I wanted to I could distort my sound through EQ to all get out if I wanted. Neutral sound suits me better. But, we must be biased, unlike all of...- SpaceTimeMorph

That Iranian unicorn hair is some good stuff. You should see how it sounds after a 5 year liquid nitrogen bath. Brings out the mid-range like none other.- SpaceTimeMorph

Small Objective 2 Review
To Start… There are a lot of amps out there that use exotic topologies and expensive parts. Even “budget” amplifiers try to get in on this game. Too often, that practice fails and you end up with a “transparent” amp that is anything but. Or an amp is made that trades reliability for...- SpaceTimeMorph

Hi-Rez - Another Myth Exploded!
And there's this as a demonstration of what happens when you reduce the bit depth of an audio file. Although I would agree you would have benefits during playback while using heavy DSP's, etc... would they be audible differences at the playback level?- SpaceTimeMorph

Very interesting article by Tyll with regards to headphone burn in
It would be interesting to see a blind test done pre/post burn-in. I can't see how manufacturers tolerances for headphones would be necessarily smaller than a potential difference in burn-in effects. My own experience has taught me there is a huge difference in manufacturing variability in...- SpaceTimeMorph

Japan earthquake and tsunami!
It's sad what is happening over there. There is a lot of mismanagement going on with respect to the clean-up efforts. Japan earthquake and tsunami!
Quote: What's sad, is there are some basic safety upgrades that could have been taken that would have alleviated a lot of what happened in the event, but they weren't for whatever reason. We actually have an idea of what to do with the waste. The French in particular reprocess the...- SpaceTimeMorph

Japan earthquake and tsunami!
The part that bothers me, is the lack of consistent numbers that are being thrown out. Even during the event, there were numbers that were reported that were either too high for what was going on or too low to cause the level of contamination they were claiming. Also, those numbers would...- SpaceTimeMorph

Cut the blind testing crap

What's wrong with people???
Sorry to geek out... urine is sterile until it reaches the urethra. Not to mention once it hits the air there's all sorts of bacteria it can pick up. Also if the guy (or girl) in question has a bacterial infection, that can be transmitted via the urine. Therefore, wash your hands people.- SpaceTimeMorph
