nope it doesn't, those larger inputs are midi inputs, i was thrown off by that too at first. it seems i can go 1/4" to XLR without any problem.

Are there any soundcards for PC w/ XLR output? I've been searching and have found none. The closest I found was the top of the line m-audio soundcard with xlr INPUTs. The reason I'm asking is I'm going for an active monitor system and most of these types of speakers will take only XLR balanced...

i have nothing but praise for the echo indigo. it's a pcmcia dac/amp card and it really does a very good job for the price and size. this is coming from someone with a dynahi and a vda/vac combo.

i hate to say this but all 3 are very good cans could easily stay in a headphone collection with all getting use. the k501 does have good bass that reaches low. it's not as strong as the grado or 880 (which is also not so strong). the dt990 feels like you have a subwoofer strapped to your head...

i know this is an old thread but i just have to say that EBM just hit the nail on the head with the k501/990 pro. i own both cans and that is a stellar comparison.

the psu is worth it. you don't have to get it right away but you'll definetly want to. if you have an ear at all you'll recognize the bass become cleaner and the soundstage wider.

i can second this reviewer's impressions. it's not night and day (like audigy to emu), but it's a worthy upgrade.

i know there are many on this board who have done the mod with success. it does disable all the outputs except for spdif iirc.

i've never had any problem with switching headphones on my dynahi while it is playing

it depends on the upgrades.. if it has parts matched and upgraded power supply section then it will sound just like a dynahi-sa from what i've gathered.

i also had a problem with san andreas and my emu 0404. i had to use another soundcard for the game. the problem was no sound during the videos and then in the game i would have sound for a few seconds then it would blue screen and i had to restart my computer.

i may take out another audition on the dt880 but i do remember them sounding thin. as far as clamping goes, they don't clamp too much, i have had them for several months now, i guess this is a not a big issue. perhaps it is their heavier bass response that is making them a bit more fatiguing...

i'm probably going to get hammered for this but, i'm considering downgrading from my 650s. any recommendations? i need something circum-aural (fit around the ear), but hopefully lighter and less clamping. also a little leaner on the bass while maintaining the 'edgeless treble' and smooth...
