Thinking of getting K701's (noobish questions inside)
Thanks for the replies everyone. While I will look into the 701s + amp later on when I have some more cash to throw around, I went ahead and bought the AD700's last night. They should tide me over for the time being, I'm just a little worried that they'd be a considerable downgrade from my now...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Thinking of getting K701's (noobish questions inside)
Since the AD700 is so cheap, would those be much of a downgrade from K271s unamped?- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Thinking of getting K701's (noobish questions inside)
My K271's recently fell apart and I've been looking at some cans for under $300 to replace them. The main thing I'm wondering though is if I'd notice much of a difference between the K701 and K271 since I'm mainly going to be using it to plug into my comp (onboard sound) and won't have an amp...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Need a little help putting my headphones back together
Alright thanks. I wish I knew which pieces to take apart because this diagram is kind of confusing: http://www.akg.com/mediendatenbank2/psfile/datei/78/k271_studi4055d247300e2.pdf Nothing labeled drivers on there either- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Need a little help putting my headphones back together
Thanks for the response. I just really don't see where to connect it, there's no remnant of any white wire to match it with, and I don't even see a place designated for it like there is with the red wire.- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Need a little help putting my headphones back together
My pair of AKG271's are pretty old and they're starting to fall apart. The right ear piece came off and there's a red and white wire loose that I need to re-solder. Problem is, I don't know where the white wire is supposed to go. On the piece that fell off you can see that there's a red wire...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

E2C's sound like crap...
I just tried the orange foam things and it sounds nearly exactly the same. Slightly improved, but just barely.- D41LYBR34Dm4n

E2C's sound like crap...
Something's not right here. My iPod headphones sound better then these things..The E2's are extremely trebly and it says to try to a different shell thing but none of the other ones fit.- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Which one? Shure E1c, E2c, or E3c?
Shure E1c $159.00 Shure E2c $99.00 Shure E3c $179.00 Those are the prices at Todd's, is the 80 dollar difference worth the upgrade from E2c to E3c? I listen to a lot of rock, metal, and some soft stuff too so all around. These would be coupled with an iPod video.- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Noticing some crackling in my headphones
Considering the fact that I don't know anything about the inside of my cans would you care to explain this in more detail so I don't screw anything up?- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Noticing some crackling in my headphones
Where would the hair be stuck? I see a couple tiny ones in the mesh black stuff that covers teh speaker thing up but those shouldn't affect anything. Should I take off the circular foam mesh black stuff?- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Noticing some crackling in my headphones
I have the AKG K271's and ever since I got them in December I've noticed this crackling using an iRiver H320, pluggin into my comp's onboard sound, and the receiver for the receiver for my TV sound set up. It seems to occur mostly at extreme low frequencies when low toms on a drums are being...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Do I need an amp for my headphones?
I have the AKG K271's (http://www.toddthevinyljunkie.com/pr...uct.php?id=170) and even when I plug them into my receiver for my TV set up at home they still don't sound as good as I would expect. Plugging into my iRiver they sound even worse. It's not BAD quality just not what I would expect...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Is it possible that my iRiver H320 isn't powerful enough to drive my headphones?
I'm definitely gonna go with the cheap amp. Any recommendations? Ain't no way I'm switchin' to an iPod, this bad boy plays movies and pics too.- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Is it possible that my iRiver H320 isn't powerful enough to drive my headphones?
Yeah I did check the player with the Grado's. With the SR-60's I noticed a much more bright, varied tone, but I think that's what their known for. The AKG's however seemed to have a more tight sound with a more crisp bass, yet they both seem a little flat in tone overall...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Staticy sound?
Every so often I notice a bit of static noise going on with my AKG K271's...I'm pretty sure it's not the songs themselves because I've listened to a variety of different types and genres and the problem persists. It's not too noticeable, but it bugs me. I usually hear this when really low tuned...- D41LYBR34Dm4n

Is it possible that my iRiver H320 isn't powerful enough to drive my headphones?
Is there any way to tell if it's my headphones or my player? I tried plugging into my comp but I've done that before also with my Grado's and the sound is horrible for some reason.- D41LYBR34Dm4n
