I want to use the GSX 1000 as a DAC and Q4 as an amplifier. GSX 1000 has 3.5 mm outs. Fosi Q4 has a coaxial in. I would like to have headphones and speakers connected and be able to switch between them with the GSX 1000. Is it possible? If so, what am I missing? Thanks so much for any advice!

I'd say it's much better for me at least. Bass and treble is more even and the original HD800 has a slight metallic sound to it, where the HD800S sounds more natural.

  Settings on the STX II are low gain 0-64 ohm, high gain 64-300 ohm and extra high gain 300-600 ohm, so in this particular case high gain would be the lowest suitable setting for an HD800S. We get what you're trying to say though.

Are you able to switch fast between them? I'm starting slow, so just got myself a Modi Multibit. Very impressed with what such a little and inexpensive unit can do. I'm interested how much better the higher end Schiit can get. Looking forward to your impressions.

I feel you. I do think it's the best surround sound i've tried by quite a bit and i've tried creative sbx, cmss3d, asus, razer and others. The amp and dac on their own, are nothing to write home about. It's definitely overpriced. Still undecided if i should keep it.

Yeah my guess is that it will work with RCA, XLR and optical if you have such an amplifier. Just get a 3.5mm cable that converts into one of these formats.

So, i bought a few cables and received a 3.5mm to 2x RCA today. I hooked my GSX1000 up to my HDVA600, and the hiss from the GSX, which was there at all volume levels, is completely gone. If i turn my HDVA600 all the way up with my sensitive Sennheiser HD598CS, there's a slight hiss to be heard...

Double amping? I'm pretty sure the GSX1000 can't be connected to any other amps/dacs, and only works on it's own, if that's what you mean.

Have anyone compared the RCA and XLR input on the HDVD800/HDVA600? Is there any difference in sound from RCA to XLR?

Nice!! The Rag i've heard, pairs exceptionally well with your HD800S. Some say it's the best solid state amp for the HD800S. And the Yggy, well... It's an Yggy, enough said.   Very much looking forward to your impressions of the upgrade.

I always use WASAPI. I assume still just set it at 16/44.1 and let the dac upsample by itself, which is what i assume the multibit dac's do if i'm not mistaken.

So what should settings be in windows and media players? does it matter? Thanks
