Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

Thanks, yeah man it’s like obviously I feel like I “should” get the pro version if I’m going to spend this money so I can utilize the headphone amp for all my sources, I just wish it wasn’t an extra like $700 ONLY to gain an rca input lol. I guess I could in theory use an rca to coax adapter...

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

Thanks, I’m curious do you have the Pro version? The only thing I‘m looking at on this one is that it would seem I’d need the Pro version to be able to use it with a turntable as that one has analog inputs. Currently I run the Zone 2 out on my receiver to the input of the Schiit Valhalla and...

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

Thanks, actually another (cheaper) product I’ve been looking at for a while is the RME ADI-2. That would obviously be both a DAC and headphone amp combined. Any thoughts on this one?

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

Hello, I picked up some HD800s’s this weekend after many years of curiosity and so far I’m definitely impressed. That sound stage is something. But of course in this hobby you always wonder if a step up in something else might be worth it. Right now what I do is I send the zone 2 of my receiver...

    AirPods Max

Hello, I decided to give these a try today as I noticed they were ~$100 off open box @ Best Buy. While in general so far I'd say they sound solid, I'm a bit confused about the "Atmos" implementation. I've spot listened to a few albums (The recent Beatles remixes & Taylor Swifts new album) and...

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones

Had them for about a week now. Definitely the most comfortable B&W headphone I've worn, and I don't think they look cheap at all. I actually much prefer the look of these to past versions like the P7 & PX. They sound great, definitely a bit more bass than some others I've used. Not over...

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread

P7 owner here and I think they're just outstanding, love everything about them. One thing I've noticed though is when I'm listening to Spotify, Play Music, etc on my Pixel XL is that when I have it around a certain volume level it seems to skip one of the volume levels. So it'll go from fairly...

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

So. Speakers to go with this combo. Kef LS50 or Adam A7X's?

I'm interested in buying, maybe we could work something out?

    McIntosh gear.....help please?

From a lot of my looking around/research I've done I came to the decision/conclusion that for right now getting some better speakers would probably provide me with a more noticeable/tangible audio different than doings something huge like changing all 3 of amplifier/dac/speakers. So what I've...

    Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

Yeah that's what I figured, thanks. So how does that work in regards to the crossover setting? Do I run the speakers into the sub first, and then out from the sub into the Rag? And also do you (or anyone else) have any input into my upgrade thoughts up there as well? Thanks,

    Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

Stumbled across this thread and am looking for some insight as I've become focused on a Ragnarok/Yggdrasil combo for my room. Right now I currently have: - Soundblaster X7 - Yamaha HS80M monitors/HS10W sub - Beyerdynamic T1 headphones - PC for music/gaming - Technics SL 1200 turntable I've...

    McIntosh gear.....help please?

So I've been going back and forth recently with doing a kind of "end game" high level upgrade of my components and I've gravitated towards McIntosh but I have some concerns/questions. And it just kind of seems like (understandably) that the higher up you go in gear, the harder it is to find...

I have the 600 ohm T1's and yeah I was wondering about that too, a potential headphone/speaker upgrade.

Creative Sound Blaster X7 - Detailed Review & Impressions

Hello, have some questions for fellow X7 owners. I've been tossing around the thought of switching from the X7 to a different DAC/Amp recently, and my initial search brought me to the Schiit Jotunheim. I'm just curious on people's thoughts as to whether or not this would be a legitimate...

Soundblaster X7 vs something like Schiit Jotunheim

So I've been taking a look around recently wondering if there was something I could upgrade to that would provide me better audio quality than the X7. It works totally fine for what it is, but I'm just wondering what else is out there. I have Yamaha HS80M's and Beyerdynamic T1's that I use...

Computer causing hissing in Yamaha HS80M's

So I tried the isolater and all of that humming/hissing is GONE!! Amazing. Thank you so much for the tip!

Computer causing hissing in Yamaha HS80M's

Thanks for the responses, yeah I have a 1/4" TS to RCA plug that I've tried, and I get the same result. I've also tried using that cable to an internal sound card other than the X7, same result. I have all of the computer components on one outlet, and the 2 speaker cables going to a...

    Better alternatives to Soundblaster X7?

So I picked up a pair of B&W 685 S2 speakers yesterday and while they still sound really good, I was wondering if there is an alternative out there to the X7 that may give me a little more power/better sound? The only thing I've really seen at this point in my preliminary searching is the NAD D...

Computer causing hissing in Yamaha HS80M's

While it's not like a huge overbearing hiss or anything.....you know the deal. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it. So I've got these Yamaha HS80M speakers and I absolutely love them, but I just cannot get rid of this hiss. And I know that it is because of my PC because once I turn the PC...

Having an issue with speaker buzzing with my laptop

So I have an Alienware 13 laptop and what I'm essentially trying to do is use this at my desk as well as remotely.  I have Yamaha HS80M speakers along with the Yamaha sub and when I have these hooked up to the laptop, I get some speaker buzz.  It's not overwhelming...but it's there and that's...

Buzz/hum coming from Yamaha HS80M's when hooked up to PC

So I moved all 3 of the speakers to an outlet across the room via an extension cord/power strip....and problem solved.  Guess the other outlet that was close to the original was on the same "run" or something.     Now I guess I just need to decide what I'm going to do long term to have one...

Buzz/hum coming from Yamaha HS80M's when hooked up to PC

Well I did try it with 1 speaker and 1 sub in 1 power strip and the PC in another, and I'm getting the same sound out of the 1 speaker that I have plugged in/turned on.   It's just a long stretch for the left speaker to go to that other power strip, that's why I'm not adding that in for this...

Buzz/hum coming from Yamaha HS80M's when hooked up to PC

They were initially all plugged into the same power strip yes, and I did try moving 1 of the speakers and the sub to a different power strip, but the same thing happened. If I kept 1 speaker in that same strip would it still have the same impact? Or would it potentially go away from the speaker...

Creative Sound Blaster X7 - Detailed Review & Impressions

So I'm running this through my head right now and I'd like to run it by everyone here for suggestions.  Right now the 2 sound sources that I would use this with are a PC and a turntable.  Both would use Yamaha HS80M speakers and a Yamaha Sub.  I would also use Beyerdynamic T1 headphones.  Right...
