NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC Impressions
So some time after trying out Somnambulist's m51 at the UK meet I finally decided to grab one for myself and I'm loving it. Well worth it's price and dominates the M-DAC it replaces. Just one question, does anybody know how to check the firmware that is currently on a unit? I've read that...- Sleepaphobic

Replacing my M-DAC
Quote: I think you should try an Auditor. Heard that setup and thought it was great. I use a V200 and it solves a lot of the problems for me except for the soundstage.- Sleepaphobic

NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC Impressions
Ya that was me :D. Thinking about selling a watch to fund it. Only problem is that it's a lot bigger than I thought it was making it a bit tricky to fit it on my desk.- Sleepaphobic

London Meet - Saturday 27th April
Hey guys if I bring some stuff do I have to come early? I can safely say there's no way I'll be able to make it for 10.- Sleepaphobic

London Meet - Saturday 27th April
Is thre any chance someone could bring an off-ramp? I'm reading that these converters make a huge difference but I have never heard one and would really like to hear what these things can do.- Sleepaphobic

Replacing my M-DAC
Quote: hmmm that's weird coz for me it's usually the other way round. For sure the differences aren't as big but still fairly noticeable. I decided I'm going to keep the m-dac until I can afford smthg like the alpha or msb dac.- Sleepaphobic

ACS T1 Live! Custom IEM Review: Silicone for the Big Stage
Any tips on how to properly replace the cable? After 6 months my first cable is already gone and I can't get the left monitor to connect properly (There's hardly any sound coming from it). It's hard to see what I'm doing as it's not clear (Ordered clear but got smoke and thought whatever I'll...- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: I'm pretty interested in this too. I would try myself but to do so I would have to do it right and spend about £170 when I could easily save that for the upcoming PSU (Any thoughts on this?).- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: Same here I listen to tracks up to 24/96 over USB with no problem at all. The larger file sizes should not be a problem for your network but have you tried connecting a computer directly to the dac? It could be your unit but who knows.- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: I had the rega, auditioned the m-dac, bought m-dac and then sold the rega. Rega is no slouch though but IMO the m-dac has it beat. Some say the rega is warm and more musical but I didn't really find this to be the case. It sounded warmer than the m-dac in comparison but it's...- Sleepaphobic

Best DAC option?
Hey mate I've seen you ask a few questions and while this is kind of late I'll chime in for a second. If you still haven't bought one you can pop into bartletts hifi to demo the m1/m-dac. I absolutely hated the MF DAC. It's huge and sounds waaaaaaay too forward IMO. I listened to 2 tracks and...- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: D3E is off by default I think (Full supression) but it will still show on the bottom right. Check your manual if you want to make sure it's off by going into the menu. Dunno why this is the case and is kinda weird design. Remote works only through USB and it doesn't...- Sleepaphobic

First and only DAC
Audiolab M-DAC. Hits your top budget so that may be a problem but it has everything you want (Not sure if you can use xlr rca outputs at the same time though). Unfortunately I think there are stock issues so you might have to wait (Good time to start saving). Sick sound and makes fun of the...- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: Well I'd think your phones would be the problem in that case but the dacmagic needs to go if you can afford the upgrade. During a demo I was blown away by the m-dac and bought it on the spot. It is a night and day difference and probably the best money I have ever spent. I've...- Sleepaphobic

New Audiolab DAC
Quote: Hey there. I did try the Zodiac+ and posted my opinions (With my terrible terminology and all) on another thread. Is it better? Yes and in pretty much every way but the differences are so minute it is not worth x3 the asking price or even x2 the asking price IMO. There are other...- Sleepaphobic
