Both are active, you're right but distorted. The manufacturer doesn't recommend that too. I see the HT bypass feature is pretty common in Integrated amp, but not headphones amplifier.- sonic2911

Actually I'm using the Oppo HA-01 as amp only (XLR signal from my DAC) and it also feeds my tube amp (SE signal) - passthrough, not preamp or gain, whatever - I'm just looking for something with a smaller footprint than it.- sonic2911

Back to stock pads and I love it. I drive it with the Oppo HA-1 currently, still good at 2 or 3 o'clock volume, I think I will switch to a better amp later. The truth is I enjoy the sound of the anniversary rev. as stock, no reason to modify a special one :) Now I only need a nicer cable. Anyone...- sonic2911
