Pathos Aurium anyone?
Update after I've had some more time to listen. Firstly, as I mentioned above, if you are worried about using the Pathos with high-sensitivity 'phones, don't be. Sonically, with my Denons, I think the warmth is a little too much, but that's what eq is for. I just tried my Sennheiser HD650's with...- Abuhannibal

Pathos Aurium anyone?
Just a bit of added info about the power supply, which visually does indeed look pretty damned unimpressive. :) I asked the pathos people if they see any value in using it with a linear power supply, and they answered that they do a good bit of additional conditioning of the DC input inside the...- Abuhannibal

Pathos Aurium anyone?
Arrived!!!! Only listened to two tracks, with the Denons. Very fast conclusions FWIW: 1. Mine is dead quiet, even with the Denons which are super-sensitive. So if anyone is having noise issues, something is not right - I'd try switching out the power supply if it's hum and the tubes if it's...- Abuhannibal

Pathos Aurium anyone?
BTW I wonder if what you are hearing might be coming from the power supply? I have an HD-Plex that I can't really spare, as it is powering my music server, but I can connect up the Aurium to that as a test, and see what happens.- Abuhannibal

Pathos Aurium anyone?
I currently own unmodified Denon AH-D7000's and Senn HD650's with cardas cable. Will see how they sound; if the Denon is more or less OK with it, not only sonically but in terms of gain, I may have it re-cabled, as the stock cable seems to be very poorly made and installed. But I'll play it by...- Abuhannibal

Pathos Aurium anyone?
I have one on order from Echo Hifi. Will be about 3 weeks before I get it, but will report on how it works/sounds with Senn HD-650's and Denon AH-D7000's.- Abuhannibal

Looking for amp to replace Headamp Gilmore V2-SE with loop outputs
OK, I shall answer my own question. :) Amps I have found with proper loop outputs so far include: Cary HH-1 Icon Audio HP8 MK II Simaudio 230HAD Dennis Had's Inspire Dragon can be custom ordered the new Berning MicroZOTL Mk 2 does not have, but should be a breeze to modify...- Abuhannibal

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
AQSW, btw, I own the Hegel H160. Awesome piece. I am a big longterm fan of Berning, but don't neglect to audition Hegel's stuff. They are doing something very right.- Abuhannibal

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
Thanks - yeah, I can imagine the D7000's becoming a bit overripe in the bass. Probably would not bother me unless it's pretty bad.- Abuhannibal

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
Thanks - do you feel like you have a decent amount of micro-control over volume level? Obviously I can just use attentuators or solder in a resistor, but want to be able to use my Senns also.- Abuhannibal

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
Folks, I am an old Berning fan - have owned 4 of his power amps, at one time or another. Would love to try this amp. My issue is that I have two very disparate pairs of headphones - one Senn HD650 with Cardas cable, which I am sure would work fine, and the other being Denon AH-D7000's, which are...- Abuhannibal

Looking for amp to replace Headamp Gilmore V2-SE with loop outputs
Using with Senn Hd650's and Denon AH-D7000's, though i may want the oomph to drive planar magnetics at some point. Also looking for a loop output if possible (meaning a line level out not controlled by the volume pot.) Yes, i know I can just use a Y-Adapter, but prefer to avoid them if possible...- Abuhannibal

Silver Interconnects
FYI, I used to buy speakers direct from Dick Sequerra, and he swore by Mogami Neglex 2534 for both interconnect and speaker cable, even used it (a double run, if I recall) for the internal wiring of some versions of his Met 7 speakers. These days I use SilverAudio and Rscables myself, but the... -

USB to SPDIF at 24/96
Folks, I known this has probably been asked and answered a gazillion times, but is there an audiophile-quality usb to spdif converter that will pass a 24/96 signal? I am aware the the Benchmark USB Dac will do this but at the moment am just looking for a converter rather than a DAC...- Abuhannibal

Which Amp (if any) would you reccomend for the Westone UM2?
I use my UM2's with a Practicaldevices XM4. Works great. I would, though, echo what some others here have said, namely that the UM2's are extremely efficient and easy to drive, and you may be able to do just fine without an amp, depending on what you're listening thru.- Abuhannibal

help choose source,dac and connection
I have only used it via the SP/DIF output. Also, it needs to be said that ergonomically, the Delta is not a great design. But then you knew that. All in all, mine has served me very well.- Abuhannibal

help choose source,dac and connection
Music Man, I have owned a Delta for 10+ years. Have not compared it to the Sony so no comments in that regard. But FYI there is a place in CN that repairs them and can replace, if not everything, at least the parts that are likely to fail. I can dig up their info if you want. As far as how...- Abuhannibal
