Do you have tinnitus?
I'm 21 and I've got mild tinnitus in both ears. It does not bother me at all and I can't hear it either unless it's extraordinarily quiet. That said, it'll only get worse with time.- Phait

Just ordered ASUS ROG G750JH-DB71???
In general laptops are a bad idea for future proofing. They allow very little upgradability and are usually more expensive than their desktop counterparts. They only, and I mean only, reason to consider a gaming laptop is if you need (at any cost) portable gaming performance.- Phait

Anyone else looking forward to the Opteron A1100? 64 bit arm, 8 cores, ecc compatible... the list goes on. I think it'll make an excellent home server/nas cpu.- Phait

Whats the best way to guess your way through a multiple choice test.
Agreeing with nikp, look for the options that are repeated the most in the answers. This is especially helpful with answers like: 1. a & b 2. a, b, & c 3. b & d 4. b, c & d 5. all of the above- Phait

What's Your Alcoholic Drink of Choice? // Drink Discussion
I've become really fond of scotch and aged beer. As for names: Lagavulin, Aberlour, and Glenfiddich for scotch. Innis and Gunn for beer. I'll still binge on cheap beer and whisky at parties and get-togethers but when I'm not trying to get pissed then I prefer the above.- Phait

Brief Odac impressions
I bought mine from Audio Poutine here in Canada and I really like having both 1.5mm and RCA outs; it makes changing between speakers and headphones easy. It really is a shame the designer went MIA before giving us the ODA. Nonetheless I don't think I'll be parting with my ODAC anytime in the...- Phait

Bottlehead Crack, background humming noise?
Make sure all the solders on your output tube are clean and there's maximum clearance between wires. I had this issue when I first built mine but it went away after going back and separating the wires best I could.- Phait

Audio Technica ATH-AD900x Impressions Thread
I keep coming to these for my next main headphone. I sold my HD600s for cash just before Christmas and never managed to sell my Bottlehead Crack :/ but I'm thinking O2 + AD900X will provide me a nice experience in the future. Now if only I could manage the working capital to make it happen.- Phait

DAC for Bottlehead Crack and Beyerdynamic T1's - help me narrow my options
The ODAC is nice, I've got one feeding my Crack to HD600 and I'm very happy. Edit: Doesn't have S/PDIF though, but you said it wasn't a deal breaker. A big pro though is that it's much below your maximum price and well documented on NwAvGuy's (albeit biased) blog.- Phait

Review by 'Phait' on item 'AKG K240 MKII Headphones'
First off, I am by no standards a veteran audiophile: I have only, within the last half-year, started my journey into the world of hifi sound. To begin - the positives. The mids were stunning, a quality that extended up through the highs. The bass, some call it lacking and some plenty, was...- Phait
