FiiO E12DIY Limited Edition Version---DIY your own sound !
Wondering if you guys notice that the E12DIY won't automatically cut off charging once the battery is full? When I left the unit charging over night, the red light is still on in the morning. Or is it a faulty unit I received?- alflying

haha glad u grabbed one without stabbing me in the end :P i'll rem what u said in future reviews... less is more, how true i owned hd598 before, sold it due to the lack of detail compare to the hd600. you may want to consider the hd600/EVO combo also... EVO for PC use/everything pop and bass...- alflying

very much agree with what you've said the sound signature is laid back but the treble is right on in terms of quantity, not missing or recessed, to me this is a rare combo and something i've been longing for it's also good for gaming imo, not sure about office use as it's semi open i think the...- alflying

Review by 'alflying' on item 'Superlux HD-681 EVO Black Professional Monitor Headphones'
I'm still a newbie in the headphone category, just starting to try out all the hyped ones like SRH840, HD650/600 etc from the beginning of this year. Now I'm left with this, HD600, and DT880. I'm thinking which one of HD600 and DT880 to sell at the moment, so HD681 is certainly doing...- alflying

JVC's Micro HD Line: HA-FXD80/70/60
Quote: Thanks for your input. I'm going to get a 70 for listening to classical and female vocal tracks at home. For everything else I will use the MH1C. Outdoor GR07 is still my choice with its fit and over the ear wear. Too bad I can't try 70 locally, I tried the 80's before but...- alflying

JVC's Micro HD Line: HA-FXD80/70/60
how would you compare the Sony MH1C to FXD70? MH1C should have more bass quantity I believe, I'm mostly concerned about the mids, will 70 sounds more recessed in mids than MH1C?- alflying

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Quote: Of cos I notice it, not only the upper mid to treble is boosted all the way, but the remaining of the frequency is recessed somewhat and it does not sound as neutral as no EQ'ing on e17. I'm here to enjoy music not to argue, so if you suspect or don't believe what I am...- alflying

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Quote: I'm too lazy to do EQ'ing on foobar, I just do a +4 treble in e17 when I am playing violin albums like Accardo's Diabolus in Musica and it does make a difference. I guess which gear you use will also affect the amount of roll off you detect. I am using TF10 and it has a 15db...- alflying

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Quote: You are right that it's at the border of audibility thresholds, but the thing is, some people like me can hear the difference. How big of an impact that is to the overall sound depends on what type of music you're listening to. For example, when I am listening to solo guitar or...- alflying

convert 24bit flacs sampled at 88.2khz to 96k or 48k?
Well for me, I did hear an improvement in slightly less background hiss and slightly better soundstage when I used asio/wasapi for onboard realtek sound chip, ha. It probably didn't make much of a difference for my Xonar DG(Not that I can tell), but I do it anyways. The other factor is...- alflying

Vsonic GR06 Review
As we are talking about gr02 also here, they are on sale on Taobao(Chinese ebay) now for about $16USD as they will be discontinued, that's dirt cheap! Personally I will only wear IEM's that are naturally worn in the top down style, so I won't be looking into it no matter what- alflying

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Thanks for the clarification, but really IMO treble should be the weakest link of e17 as a dac. If even my clip+ can present a much better clarity at those high frequencies(by result of ABX tests), then there's no excuse. That being said, e17 as a dac is superior to clip+ in all other...- alflying

convert 24bit flacs sampled at 88.2khz to 96k or 48k?
I'm using SoX 0.7.9, and under Resampler settings, there's only the setting of 'Target samplerate', 'Quality', 'Passband', 'Allow aliasing', and 'Phase response'. The phrase 'Target samplerate' sounds to me like it's trying to convert everything into this sample rate?- alflying

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Now I wonder if there's issue with my usb setup or the e17 unit itself? Seems like even the good old e7's treble won't slope down so sharply: http://rmaa.elektrokrishna.com/Various/FiiO%20E7%20(Aux%20vs.%20USB,%20Vol.%2060,%20No%20Bass%20Levels,%20Var.%20Loads).htm...- alflying

Recessed treble for e17 the DAC? Hi all, I am a happy owner of the e17 thus far, I know at this price I shouldn't be complaining, but one nitpick I have is the treble of the e17 when used as a DAC. Especially when playing strings music it is lacking both in treble quantity and...- alflying

convert 24bit flacs sampled at 88.2khz to 96k or 48k?
Hey guys thanks for all the help! - joeyjojo - Yep it works! And thanks for the reminder that downsample to 44k is mathematically neater. I remember reading something similar when doing picture resizing(should always resize to half or quarter size for optimal results) so this makes sense...- alflying

convert 24bit flacs sampled at 88.2khz to 96k or 48k?
Hi all, I recently purchased FiiO's e17 and use it primarily as a DAC for my notebook. Too bad that it cannot do 88.2khz files at 24bit, it can do 24bit 48k or 96k though. So my question is, what's the best thing I can do to my few 88k albums? I guess the best solution will be to...- alflying
