i'm being serious when i say i'm not fully convinced this isn't a trollpost. how exactly would that metal ring affect the sound? and i mean anything beyond the most marginal change. like so minute you couldn't tell, and even that is stretching it.      

either some decent IEMs or maybe, if I can find it, I would like a pair of older open beyers. I don't know any specifics at the moment. I usually just go for the best deal that shows up when I have the money.

i have not once seen anyone in my town, or anywhere, wearing beats save for on the television. maybe the buds they sell, but i can't say for sure. they are on craigslist 100% of the time i search for headphones though, and are usually the only headphones available. :(

it hasn't really got any bass to speak of (though with EQing it's possible to change that) but the HD-250 is a solution that remains within the sennheiser family, and they have exellent clamping force.  

bumping for visibility.   sorry BMW81, i am not as experienced as most of the other users here and as such wouldn't want to mislead you or anything by attempting to help. a good question to start you off though would be whether you want this to be a closed or open headphone.
