SOLVED - it was actually my *DAC* that, coincidentally, went bad.  Complete false alarm.  Doh.

  My last post crossed yours!   The amp does have Pro & Normal outputs.  I am using the Pro, since all new Stax phones are pro (580V).     It is not a warmup issue.  It doesn't go away.  (Even if it did, this wouldn't be normal.)

Thanks.  They're really not any thinner, eh?  That is surprising.   The Lambdas sound great but I would say the balance is a bit on the light side (esp. in comparison to the restored Quad 57s I use at home).  So, if the newer ones are a bit weightier I'd say that's a plus.
