Any idea if the ES60 uses the bigger bass drivers that are used in the ES5 or did they shrink the size so they could fit both in there?

I agree. The Westone website for the ES60 says they are dual bore: "Westone’s Dual Bore technology allows for the IEM’s high and low frequency sound components..."   http://www.westoneaudio.com/index.php/products/custom-series/es60-in-ear-monitor.html

I don't think there's anything wrong with spending a few hundred on IEMs and using them solely with a Clip+, a lot of people use that particular setup here.

I have Westone ES5s and they are really comfortable to rest on the side of my head with their vinyl tips.

I have Westone ES5s that I sleep on my side with at night and there is a little bit of extra pressure but not anything more uncomfortable than getting used to having customs in your ears in the first place.

I have the E7 and the mobile. The one thing I liked about the mobile was having the extra microphone jack, but you have to use a cell-phone-type microphone.

You could always get the E7/E9 combo and swap the E7 for the E17 when it comes out if you're concerned about the DAC quality. I'm using the E7/E9 right now with my laptop (not with the RCA inputs though,) and am liking it a lot.

You can lock the controls while you're on the Rockbox "now playing" screen by pushing the big middle button and the home button at the same time; depending on your theme you'll probably see a little lock icon show up or something like that.

I also really like the ES5s with the hybrid tips, can't really imagine what it would be like to not have them. I had one refit done on my left monitor but after that things were fine in terms of seal.
