    I want Spend 1000U$S

Quote: I don't want to sound rude, but this comment really makes it seem like you haven't done your research.  The mini-XLR connectors on an Audez'e LCD-2 earcup are simply there because it was an easy standard connector to adopt which allows for simple cable replacement, not because they...

    I want Spend 1000U$S

This might be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I would drop the full $1,000 on a pair of Audez'e LCD-2's.  I got mine a year ago, and they're simply the best sounding headphones I've ever heard.  Bass you can feel, voices that sound like they're right there with you, and treble detail that's...

Quote: True, I was talking about cases where you're playing them louder/not using them strictly as nearfields.  I use them for entertaining a lot, and as such they need a bit of help in the bass department at times (Bigger rooms, non-optimal spacing, etc...).  For personal (read: intended)...

Quote: The KRK's are easily best in their price range if you want to go the powered route.  $500 for the pair.  Really neutral sounding, maybe slightly bass-deficient if you don't have a woofer.  This is totally room dependant, however.  I'd compare them to a DT880 - 600 Ohm if I had to...

Not bad for a college student, I'd say, eh? Sorry about the poor picture quality.

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

Just got my LCD-2 Rev. 2's.  I'm upgrading from Beyer DT880 600-Ohm's, and oh my god.  I've never heard a truly top-of-the-line headphone before these.  Couldn't be more satisfied.

Not the nicest out there, but I'm definitely happy with the little setup I've got.  Also, yes, those are custom painted DT770PRO's.  I did it a while ago, but the paint is chipping now.  I'm thinking they're going to be red next time.   Pictured: -Beyerdynamic DT770PRO 250ohm...

Braided Copper cables for a DT880

I'll start this right out by saying I don't really buy into boutique cabling on headphones, and I think any speaker wire that goes for more than a few dollars a foot is pointless, but I've seen on this site a bunch of pictures of headphones recabled with braided copper wire.  I think this looks...

    Cans for an aspiring producer.

Well, I think the title says it all. I'm a college student with roommates who aren't always keen on listening to the same section of a song I'm working on played ad-nauseum over my near-field monitors, so I've decided to give them a break and get some good reference phones.  I've already got a...

    Best headphones for around $50 - $300

I adore my Beyerdynamic DT770PRO's, got the 250ohm model and they're amazing for gaming and a lot of non-classical music.  The upped highs give a really analytical feel to them, and the bass, while strong, isn't overwhelming and is really tight.  I've owned Sennheiser HD595's before, and I can...
