I'm not sure if it's discipline so much as me spending my money on other silly hobbies. I want an Uber 2 stack, but I know if I get off my rear and finish my AMB M3+S11 amp it will blow the Uber 2 out of the water, so it seems like a waste.

I've had the silibance issue on some poorly mastered tracks as well, but not terribly so. I've been, for the most part, happy with the upper mids. They seem fairly smooth to me, although not as sweet as they were out of my vintage AKG Sextettes (But then again, those were the best mids I'v ever...

What pads are you using? While the bass extends deep with the HE-400's, with a pair of velour pads the highs are certainly not muted. The sound signature is remarkably similar to that of a woody modified Grado, just with more bass extension. I did however find the pleather pads to be "damp"...

I'm in the same boat as Kon Peki. I don't need any new features, but an audio SQ upgrade to hold me over until I get out of school and can reasonably afford a Bifrost without cutting into my Ramen diet? That I'm very interested in.

Thank you, but I meant between the Modi and the Modi 2 Uber. Specifically will the linear power supply and dc servo make that big a difference? Like I said, I'm not concerned about the different connection/control methods, as all I use is USB anyway. Is USB audio 2 that much better than USB...

So what exactly is the advantage of this new UBER Modi 2 over the original Modi, other than all the new options? I see the same DAC chip is used but the firmware is significantly different.
