nfb1s is a NOS, non upsampling dac.

Everyone hears differently. Dependent on how loud you like your music genres to be. Will not be an issue with with volume level over 20 steps, high gain mode. Low level listening might sound flat. Best to be wired in balance mode.

With implmentation of amanero usb in full force now, his dsd ctr cable will be a thing of the past soon.

M7 and DI will enable you to play around with i2s. But with m7 +amanero usb, you wont need DI if you are using usb only. Kingwa should agree amanero usb is now functionally better than usb32.

Specs aside, nfb28 can power he6 very well, quantity and quality. You definitely had to turn up the volume higher to match any headphones, and to appreciate it. We all hear differently, so it will be up to you to play with different modes, volume steps and components matching on/ with the nfb28...

NFB28 is close to the NFB7 tonally. They had that sabre characteristics, NFB7 being a flagship dedicated dac, of course has an edge of being more extensive highs and lows, and spacious soundstage. NFB28 in this case actually sounds slightly warmer, less treble happy, probably due to being less...

You might want to check out nfb10.33 if you want warmer. An alternative to nfb28 with dual8741 dac.

Consult kingwa direct if you intend to mod from in within the display circuits. If not, easiest would be paste a cut to size colored window tint film, over the display, internally, externally, tint percentage, all up to you. 

That is not a switch, it is the extra volume potentiometer the nfb28 came with. Some people had their volume pot broken during shipping, and this prompted agd to include extras. At one stage, kingwa even eliminated the volume pot on his products! Putting on push button volume controls instead. 

SA-31 series is a single ended diamond diffrential design amp/preamp,  with 5 rca inputs & 3 rca preamp outputs. There is no acss connection on it.  What you saw should be the nfb6 which is a balanced design amp/preamp, with acss input and preamp output. They share the same front panel design. 

Reducing the intensity, you may want to check with Kingwa, he should be able to advise, provided you are technically sound. No issues at all with the ventilation spacing, i had similar spacing, and left it on all the time. Sounds good readily! or you could just move to the top tier of your rack...

Both 10es and nfb28 have enough power and will drive he6 well enough in se or balanced. Definitely louder and better driven in balanced mode, with 10es sounded more sparkly with he6 with certain genres of music.

Agd has got a house sound of its own, never sound harsh or digital to me. Even though there are different implementation, ess will sound specifically most neutral, no emphasize on a certain band. Different implementation gives you slightly more to the neutral side of forwardness or warmness...
