I use the pilot pad off and on with them. The only reason it doesn't stay permanently on is that it seems to force the headphones wider and reduce clamp force. Does make already comfortable headphones even more comfortable, though.

I have never once though recessed when listening to my VC. I never understood when people have talked about it. I've had several pairs of headphones that presented this issue for me, these aren't one.

On my chain PC>> RME ADI-2>> Woo WA2 I wouldn't think to call them anywhere near fatiguing and I'm really treble sensitive. Just smooth and detailed sound.

I'm guessing it will depend what you like. I personally didn't love it off a solid state, it was too bright for me. The detail and stage were mostly still there. As posted above, tubes mellowed any harshness and gave it a more holographic presentation.

I completely agree that it's better to go with LCD-X over any of the focals. They are one of my favorite headphones and have recommended them to countless people. I don't know anything about what type of filter the ifi bass boost adds, maybe it has something to do with that.

Entirely agree with above. I feel the rep they have earned as genre specific is based on chain rather than transducer. I tried them on two different low OI amps and was very unhappy. Listening on my WA2 makes them an amazing set.

My go to for EDM is LCD-X. I've listened to a lot of headphones lately and for DnB, in particular, the LCD-X with a bass shelf are faultless.
