It sounds like your basic cable break. That doesn't usually happen with beyers as they tend to use pretty sturdy cabling, but unbreakable copper wire is yet to be invented.   I'm not 100% up-to-speed on the construction of the T5p, but if it's similar to the DT880 and DT770, fixing this...

The bottom hole is not a problem. There is nothing under there. The top one, depends on if you went through the driver too. If so, it'll likely sound bad. Just try, you won't break anything.

For the requirement of comfort I would normally immediately jump towards the premium Beyers, specifically the DT770 and DT880. They're the comfiest things to hug one's face short of kittens. But they tend not to work on a limited budget.   You don't say what Superlux it was you tried that...
