Bad experience with pure silver cables for HD650...
Quote: And you are able to discern between the stock cable and whatever cable you use now without knowing which is in use? Because then you are the first person in the world to be able to do so. Psychoacoustics is a very interesting thing.- CyBeR

Bad experience with pure silver cables for HD650...
Quote: Yes, they are. There is no measureable difference in sound between two non-defect cables. Any perceived difference is just that: perceived. It goes away once the listener does not know he's using the expensive cables. Hell, even us who buy stock replacement cables where...- CyBeR

Bad experience with pure silver cables for HD650...
Quote: Are you comparing the amount of copper now, or the amount of insulation around it? Four-conductor is just adding more copper (which these days is crazy expensive) and weight to do nothing seeing as how two of those are connected to eachother. (And as far as manufacturer...- CyBeR

Bad experience with pure silver cables for HD650...
Quote: So far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, the stock HD650, HD600 and HD580 cables are 100% identical (except the HD650 cable is terminated with a 6.3mm plug instead of 3.5mm).- CyBeR

Quote: Then you should get a new headphone. Changing the cable will not change the sound even a teensy little bit. And it certainly won't add any sound.- CyBeR

Beyer T5p problem. Should I recable/resolder myself?
Quote: Not to start an argument but that's because there is no difference. If you hear a difference when replacing a wire, one of those wires was either defective or otherwise inadequate*. Not without reason can one not find a single objective and statistically significant test result...- CyBeR

Beyer T5p problem. Should I recable/resolder myself?
It sounds like your basic cable break. That doesn't usually happen with beyers as they tend to use pretty sturdy cabling, but unbreakable copper wire is yet to be invented. I'm not 100% up-to-speed on the construction of the T5p, but if it's similar to the DT880 and DT770, fixing this...- CyBeR

Hole in paper Lining (Diaphragm) of HD565 drivers
The bottom hole is not a problem. There is nothing under there. The top one, depends on if you went through the driver too. If so, it'll likely sound bad. Just try, you won't break anything.- CyBeR

Notebook enough to enjoy DT770 Pro 250Ohm?
Quote: Actually, it does. Dynamic Range is the difference between the lowest produced volume and the highest. Low volume is pretty easy to achieve of course, which leaves high volume to be interesting. The volume produced by any audio transducer is directly related to the amplitude of...- CyBeR

Notebook enough to enjoy DT770 Pro 250Ohm?
My MacBook Pro drives them to satisfaction. My iPhone, however, just does not have the guts to pull it off. I'm not saying there's no room for improvement, but if one is on a budget, the amp can be forgone. Many times here on head-fi people will give the impression that headphones will not...- CyBeR

Headphones for use with an iPhone
They aren't for sale yet, but B&W has a new model headphone called the P3 that sounds like it might be interesting. It has iPhone controls, too. In the mean time they have their P5 which is lauded by some yet hated by others. You can listen to those in combination with an (or even your) iPhone...- CyBeR

Skullcandy Aviator appreciation
What the hell happened here? Are we suddenly being fooled by the relative comparison to their other cans? The aviators, while admittedly better-sounding than most skullcandy cans, still sound like a wet fart. And frankly they look it, too. But I guess there's no objective measure for pretty so...- CyBeR

Difference between Beyerdynamic DT990pro and DT880pro 250 OHMS
Quote: You make it sound like they won't even work without an amp which is patently untrue. I drive them out of my macbook pro all the time without issue. Admittedly my iPhone has some trouble getting good volume though.- CyBeR

Broken Beyerdynamic DT-770 pro, What to do?
Quote: I kind of expected him to be in the US, so the point of my page wasn't so much the availability of the parts directly from Beyer as their shipping rates are quite high, but it has the part number on the page so he can ask a more local distributor for that. OTOH, given the size of...- CyBeR

very picky customer needs help buying IN THE UK
For the requirement of comfort I would normally immediately jump towards the premium Beyers, specifically the DT770 and DT880. They're the comfiest things to hug one's face short of kittens. But they tend not to work on a limited budget. You don't say what Superlux it was you tried that...- CyBeR

Am i the only disappointed with the DT-770 Headband?
I prefer the pro headbands, too. I have a broken DT880-2005 that (pre-breakage) I modded slightly, because I didn't like the 2005 headband. Basically, you can use the pro's headband on the 2005 edition by procuring one (obviously), removing the stock one (obviously) and removing the metal...- CyBeR
