I agree in my system - low gain is too low for line level. If i understand correctly, dbu 14.5 / 4.1 vrms ( what the dacport hd is on high gain) is 8 db greater than a 2 vrms standard cd output (so a bit hot) If low gain is 20 db less does that mean its outputting only .411 vrms? My creek...

I've owned half a dozen combination of highish end amps and headphones and dacs   I have to say that this is the best combo yet - particularly considering price and convenience.

I emailed TTVJ and Grado about HF2 vs PS500.  They both said the PS500 is slightly more "refined"  than the HF2 with some slight revisions.  I have not heard any RS headphone.  As I've written, I love the HF2.  I would trade it for a PS500 and may at some stage.   My humble opinion based...
