Recognize that this thread is old as the hills, but it's comforting to know that my oddball HD-580's (One black screen driver, one silver) aren't actually abominations with two entirely different drivers, just different colored bits.  Thanks for clearing that up!

Rip music from any CD's you have using XLD to FLACs.  That'll be a start in the right direction.

You might not need an amp for the HD558's but if you are dead set on it, a cMoy will more than adequately power them, at least based on my experience with a 555 and a JDSLabs cMoy.

I just got HD580's and was also on a very tight budget.  For the time being I have a JDSLabs cMoy and I'm very happy with it so far.  It sounds nice (best as I can tell) and provides ample power for the headphones on my quietest tracks.

A cMoy should do a good job on the cheap, whether a commercial model (JDSLabs) or just a homemade one by you or another head-fier.  There's usually plenty floating around to be sold in the forums.

The Brothers Bloom - 10/10   Maybe the most eminently watchable film I know of.  Every single viewing is rewarding and fresh, the characters are lovable, score is perfect and the emotional hits are never false no matter how familiar you are with the film.  Incredible.

Get Him to the Greek: 7/10   Very funny movie with a few too many jokes that fall flat in the first third.  Completely hilarious and convincing acting by both Jonah Hill and Russell Brand and a surprisingly intelligent look at the superstar narcissism complex.  Highly recommended.
