Any site like Head-fi that specializes in portable sources?
I think the problem you'll run into is, although you may find a site that has more active discussion on portable players, they won't be geared towards getting good sound specifically like this board.- hawkhkg11

What exactly is the difference between open and sealed cans?
Here is the difference between the two: Closed - Everyone around you hates you because you can't hear them speak. Open - Everyone around you LIKES you because you CAN hear them speak.- hawkhkg11

Setting Up Entech 205.2
Well, I don't know if this will re-assure you, but when I ordered my 203.2 off Amazon, the first shipment was DOA. No matter what I did I could not get the locked LED to light up. I use a Mac so it was fairly straightforward. I decided I could open the box or replace the PSU or a dozen more ways...- hawkhkg11

How does a Line-Out cable work?
Hello everyone, This question may be asked before so I apologize for my ignorance. There seems to be a hot market for expensive iPod line-out cables lately, but before I take the plunge and buy one, I'm still a little unsure of how they exactly work. The iPod connector as I've always...- hawkhkg11

Best amp to drive 501's ?
My setup (below) on low gain drives my 501 to very high volumes with most songs at 9 o'clock. Looks like you need a new source.- hawkhkg11

Selling Entech 203.2...what should I get next?
There's the Zhalou. Or the Beresford TC-7510. Or you could pick up a 205.2. I personally love my 203.2.- hawkhkg11

AKG 701 & G5 Mac amp recommendations
If you want to amp your K701s from your mac, you also need to get a DAC, otherwise you'll be amping a noisy headphone out signal, defeating the point. I think the G5 headphone out sounds quite good and they are more than capable of driving the K701s. Unless you need the last 10% or so of...- hawkhkg11

Help, My 225's are stuck to my ears!
Glad you are enjoying the 225s Slaughter! In all fairness, I did like the 225s for some jazz stuff, but I'm totally hooked to the treble clarity and "space" of the 501. The 225 is great for some small venue stuff though, when you want to feel intimate and "on the stage". The fact that it...- hawkhkg11

Stock Foamies W/ ER6i
I've been using the stock foamies for a long time now. Their texture becomes softer but it still seals well. I also don't have much earwax. I'll probably only replace them if they stop sealing.- hawkhkg11

Upgrading the SR60's
I'm certain most people here would agree the SR60 to SR80 is not much of an upgrade (many people may not even hear the difference). There aren't too many differences between the Prestige series cans. You get a little more detail and refinement up the line, but this is still dependent on your...- hawkhkg11

AKG K501: No Bass? What are you talking about?
Hey everyone, I got my K501s recently, and after reading all the threads about the no-bass issue, I was extremely, and pleasantly surprised with the bass in these cans. I'm running them straight into an Entech 203.2 DAC (no amp yet). From what I've read, I expected bass similar to my ER6i's...- hawkhkg11

So this is the Grado sound! How do RS-2's compare to SR-60's?
I have the 60s and 225s. The sound is very similar, with the 225s being more refined, detailed, and musical. I think it's worth the money over the 60s, but it's definitely a unchanging Grado house sound, considering the two headphones look basically the same.- hawkhkg11

Newb looking for some advice
Why constrict yourself to one or the other? I think you would get more enjoyment in terms of diminishing returns by building two rigs that do both well, instead of just one that does it really well.- hawkhkg11
