Congrats to Markl, the one person I almost always seem to agree with on musical matters. Maybe one day I'll even be able to afford the same headphones!- secretagent44

AKGs,Grados,Senns VS AKG's,Grado's, Senn's
I agree, the apostrophe should only be used if it would be confusing otherwise. The same rule often holds true with commas. The reason I would use them when referring to headphones is to avoid the confusion that RMSzero mentions. Whether it should be plural at all is a different question. I...- secretagent44

AKGs,Grados,Senns VS AKG's,Grado's, Senn's
Umm...no I agree with all the above except for VCR's, which is okay with an apostrophe. Apostrophes *can* be used to indicate a plural noun in certain situations. I'd really rather not repeat this whole issue again though! Here's some help from a favorite band...- secretagent44

The Cure...
Yeah, I appreciate the Cure more in the Smiths/Pixies/etc. post-punk vein than as a 'dark' band. I'll take the usual in the favorite album picks: The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead - Cemetry Gates, Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Boy with the Thorn in His Side, There Is a Light That Never Goes Out...- secretagent44

Any good records that have come out in 2002

Stylus Damage?
I recently refitted an old turntable with a new belt and am now trying out some old vinyl. I was wondering if there is any way to tell if my stylus is damaged by the sound it makes. The highs are very very screechy, but that could easily be caused by the age of the LP's, I'm guessing. The...- secretagent44

Neil Young
If you liked Gold and Silver, you should definitely try Harvest and After the Goldrush. Those are two of my very favorite albums of all time. For a broader sampling of his music, Decade is great.- secretagent44

Jethro Tull
Tull has been a longtime favorite for me (me! the anti-progger!). I think Aqualung is by far their best, I'm not a fan of most of the stuff that came after that, but I like the early stuff. I'll have to check out the remaster of Stand Up, I have the first CD release and it sounds pretty terrible...- secretagent44

Radio sucks? Here's the transcript of "Virtual Radio" on Now with Bill Moyers
One of my favorite radio stations in high school was WABN in Abingdon, VA. They were just about the only station that would play anything besides top 40 stuff (The first place I ever heard Pavement, a milestone for all indie rock fans!). A married couple owned the station until just a year or...- secretagent44

Decisions, Decisions
I think my situation is quite different from the guy in the other thread. He's comparing it to DVDA and other more expensive products than I own, plus the problem seems to be in the record more than the source. I'll definitely try restoring the turntable. My dad said today that it probably only...- secretagent44

Decisions, Decisions
Alright, I'm looking to take the next baby step in this expensive world of hi-fi. The options I'm thinking about are as follows: 1.) Buying a turntable - probably the most likely upgrade, and my Dad's currently non-working one may be restorable. Only problem is that CD's will most likely...- secretagent44

Attn Weezer fans-- do you know about The Feelies?
I remember reading on Weezer's website that they hadn't even heard of the Feelies or realize that they had swiped their album cover idea, which is an odd coincidence considering the similarities in sound. Also highly recommended are the Soft Boys - Underwater Moonlight and anything by Big Star.- secretagent44

Coldplay
To me, the lead singer sounds like he is trying to emulate Jeff Buckley. "Shiver" was also my favorite song, but it sounds a lot like "Grace" from the Jeff Buckley album of the same name. Give him a shot, I think he's far better than Coldplay. I didn't think they sounded like Radiohead in the...- secretagent44

Intro Turntable?
Thanks for the help. How hard is it to get ahold of a good condition Thorens? Where exactly would I look for one? Here's the real issue though, what would give me the more 'different' sound: a pair of grado sr-80's with my sony D-E456 discman or sticking with my v6's and buying a turntable?- secretagent44
