I use 320 VBR AAC.  I can't tell the difference between that and lossless on either my iPhone with JH13s or my home system.   it also sounds better then 320 MP3, to my ears.

I'd consider getting them remolded into customs.. if it's a wiring issue (likely as my ER4Ps did this), I see no reason why this wouldn't be possible.   I'm consdiering doing this myself with my broken ER4Ps, although having just ordered JH13s I really have no need... must. stop. spending.

This may seem like a stupid question, but are you certain you have a good seal?   I've not used W2s, but I have W3s and until I got a really good seal, the bass wasn't too impressive.  Once I got the fit right, the bass was excellent.
