Hey @saMWyz , I worked on the Meze 99 Noir project for over 2 years when I was at Massdrop. We worked hard to have Meze include a 2nd set of earpads in the box with them. (The extra pads are not the same pair of pads.) The 99 are quite warm stock. One pair of ear pads is a bit less warm...

^Hmmm, users who had both did report the bass to be tighter and better resolving on the FD-X1. There were not supposed to be any driver differences from the FD-01 though, except for the lack of knurling on the external body, the different modded nozzles...oh, and much less expensive packaging. ;)

Yes- a partially plugged in cable or adapter can short the output and a protection circuit is designed to help prevent permanent damage. With many older tube amps (point-to-point wiring) or DIY amps, you want to turn down the volume knob all the way and/or stop the music before...

Excellent! It is holding up very well... The ES100 fits perfectly in the balanced jack with the second cable I got (a little longer). I don't remember what the custom build cost but I thought it was very reasonable and he was great to work with. Just a reminder: you have some tuning options...

Hey Noor, Which opamps do you have in it? Another thing you could do for fun is to try some other opamps for a slightly different flavor. Not sure if these are the best for IE800, but I run AD 4627-BRZ opamps in mine and have kept it because it is just a solid IEM amp.
