I think they're about the same in size, however the pads are not thicker on the rear side like the K701, on the K550 they're the same thickness all around the pad.

they're the same size as the ZX700. They don't fold flat so they're no terribly comfortable around your neck since they're kindof big. The Z1000 fits very well on my head though :)

there's no strain on the connectors, they're not even touching the wood, it's almost half a cm left. this is clearly visible in the image by looking at the shadow of the connector underneath it. And I don't consider the pads compressed at all either, so there's no issue whatsoever.

it's not an active noise-cancelling headphone with active microphones that record and cancel out ambient background noise like the bose either, so that's not surprising.
