Kelly, With over 4000 posts in 1year, you must be qualified to comment on numbers! However, your opinion is worth no more than anyone's as it is nothing more than an opinion.- oldguy

Commercally produced DIY. However, this is only an option as an assembled version is available, and I suspect, the most popular variant.- oldguy

Just my opinion; I do not like DIY products posing as commercial alternatives! Porta Corda / Airhead ; a) quality construction & parts b) warranty c) excellent sound quality d) proven reliability e) versatility f) reasonable value Home made amps or other comparable products erode...- oldguy

HD600 + Corda...?
Howie, If you have already decided to start with the HD600's, you are off to an excellent start. My advice would be to contact Jan at Meyer Audio and ask him to quote you a price for a combination of Sennheiser HD600, Corda HA1 & Porta Corda, then you will have a home based system +...- oldguy

amp performance with reduced battery power
Thanks for the help guys. I've ordered 2 NiMH batteries and charger, so we'll see how it goes. BTW, does anyone know if the RA1 runs on 9v or 18v?- oldguy

amp performance with reduced battery power
Thanks Hirsch, this is good information. I have had a look at the Plainview website and found the Nmh batteries. There is no mention of which type of charger to use and where to purchase one.- oldguy

amp performance with reduced battery power
Has anyone compared two identical battery powered headphone amps, one with new batteries, the other partially discharged? My Grado RA1's performance begins to deteriorate long before the batteries run out. I can feel a new amp coming on! Oh no, not that again. Help-help, somebody talk...- oldguy

Best amp for midrange clarity with Senn HD580?
Quote: is there an amp out there which can bring the mids of the Senns far enough forward to allow them to sound like my Beyers ~ or, is it time once again to hang up the Senns and get another pair of higher end Beyers? Thanks 1) Grado RA1 2) Corda HA1 Others too, but these...- oldguy

Is it worth an extra $65 to get the Grado 325's apposed to the 225's??
Have owned both SR225 & SR325 with RA1 amp. Liked the 225's more than the 325's, then heard the HD600's with the RA1 and found this to be a superb combo. The HD600 Sennheiser/ Grado RA1 combo has been with me now for 8 months and I still feel the same.- oldguy

Headphone amp to push Sennheiser HD600's

Shorter Senn HD600 Cable
Has anyone here tried shortening the standard Sennheiser cable? I would like mine to be 5 feet long but am unwilling to spend big bucks on an aftermarket "upgrade cable". I have always had difficulty telling the difference between cables so upgrades are meaningless to me.- oldguy

Headphone amp to push Sennheiser HD600's
doeboy The next question would be; do you want a portable or home based amp, or possibly a combination of the two? Airhead, Porta Corda, and I understand Meta 42 can all be both battery and 110v powered. The little is 110v only. I am currently using a Grado RA1 with my HD600's with good...- oldguy

Headphone amp to push Sennheiser HD600's
I was looking at the HeadRoom Total AirHead amp for around 200 dollars I have personally used both the Total Airhead and Porta Corda with the HD600's. The Porta is better IMO. New Porta Corda should be even better and cheaper than Airhead.- oldguy
