I don't see how it is measurement artifact. 54 measurements were taken covering different headphones with the different amps. Those were taken after a large number of prior measurements were taken when I first discovered the phenomenon. I may investigate further to see if I can find any more...

I have yet to test out the Note 4 with my HRT Music Streamer 2 as well as 2+. All the Note 3, S5, and S4 smartphones I have tested output 48khz sampling rates. This is why I use the Note 2 for my audio system with HRT DAC because it outputs 44.1khz, which matches my predominantly 44.1khz music...

  Bummer.  I would try a TW 4.3 ROM before giving up, though.  Also, I suggest trying every compatible kernel that you can just to make sure.
