Running my Q701s with a Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 i picked up for $150 and a Squeezebox Touch as source for files up to 24/96, really happy with the sound quality of these cans. One of my friends who judges car audio sound quality prefers them to the Copland amp and Castle Howard speakers.

Long time out of Head Fi looking to upgrade Headphones

I have just purchased a Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 and think it's time to upgrade my faithful HD414s, but have been out of head-Fi for a while as my Copland has no headphone socket. Looking to spend around $300, so looking for suggestions Thanks

    Overkill ?

I have a pair of Sennie HD414s that I hardly use because my Copland csa-14 doesn't have a headphone socket. I have been offered a MF X-can v3 for $150 (100 quid) is this overkill? If I go with it I could always upgrade the phones later I suppose.

    Chips and SQ

I have built a little cheap valve headphone amp annd it has a PT2308 op amp in cct. I was wondering what choices there are for chip swapping, bearing in mind that the cct conigures the op amp for unity gain.

    Any home-brewers here?

    1. spotless, everything must be spotless, do not short cut here. 2. Patience, good beer takes time. Oh did I mention to keep it clean? Summer is for brewing ales and lagers in winter (they brew cooler). don't be afraid to experiment, adding a bag of hops to a cheap brew kit will do...
