    Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

Hi,   if you are in AUSTRALIA and pre-order a SOny NWZZX1 (at $699 aus) you get a free set of SOny MDR10RC headphones apparently. Can be done at local Sony Centre or online.      oh, and in reference to some discussion earlier in the thread: CLEARAUDIO+ setting is an adaptive eq (it...

    Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

Hi there, A few suggestions onsound settings throughout this thread need some clarification. I most definitely would NOT put on dynamic normaliser as it is a digital compressor/limiter to try and keep the volume levels matched between different tracks/albums (ie it is restricting the dynamic...

Bifrost vs. Parasound Zdac? or maybe Gungnir?

Hi, I have the Parasound Z dac on a nice almost two month loan at the moment, and am really, really enjoying it.... let me explain why. (I do not use the in-built headphone amp, so all my comments refer to the unit purely as a DAC).   I have already a Burson HA160D, a Cambridge Audio Dac...

There's A New Quad Driver in Town...and it's from SONY!!!! aka [REVIEW] :)

Thankyou for a clear and concise review which gets a sense of what the actual sound of these is.  It sounds like a great detailed in-ear and it's good to see Sony finally get this product out to market.   A quick question, bass quality and quantity compared to Shure SE535? I own the...

Nuforce Icon HDP versus Burson HA 160? Pros and Cons

"Do you need a DAC? The nuforce has a pretty decent one built in while the burson does not."   I have the Burson HA160D with inbuilt DAC.

Nuforce Icon HDP versus Burson HA 160? Pros and Cons

Both are great Amps, but kinda different.   The NuForce has an extremely wide out of the head soundstage, good bass and mids . . but can sound a little thin. The Burson has a soundstage that is more pin point (instruments occupy a distinct space, not necessarily a huge space)and 3D (front...

6moons and Burson have been naughty.

I agree with the conflict of interest . . .however, welcome to 2011 . . .   APPLE gives away hundreds, if not thousands of free iPads to newspaper and magazine journalists to then review and keep . . .it's called marketing (and I hate it).   So 6Moons definitely has a vested interest in...

6moons and Burson have been naughty.

I contacted Burson 2 days ago asking what their USB implementation was, and received this response :     "Our USB input is control via Tenor TE7022L chip set. It works in adaptive mode with its own low jitter clock. It will detect and correct any jitter error sent along via the main USB...

Advice - Burson HD160 + Asus Xonar Essence St or Burson HD160D DAC/Amp combo

hmmm . . .. I did not realise that this was not the case (re:USB input) . . . I have emailed Burson and hopefully will get a response back to clarify this . . . ..  I do know that the HA160D on USB sounds a whole heap better than the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic, or the Musical Fidelity V-Dac ...

Advice - Burson HD160 + Asus Xonar Essence St or Burson HD160D DAC/Amp combo

The HA160D has a USB input that is both asynchronous and galvonically isolated - guaranteed no more than 10ppm jitter - this USB input sounds fantastic and can do 24/96 . . . sell your Sonar and use the USB input on the Burson.

M2 Young DAC (or Burson HA 160D) vs King Rex HQ

The Burson HA160D is a great choice, apparently much better bass and bass control tahn the King Rex, along with smoother sound. Quite a few headfi-ers have mentioned the synergy of LCD2 and Burson 160D, as have Mike and some of the other users on Headfonia in the forums.   I have the...

Burson HA-160D vs Woo Audio WA6SE

Hi there,   I have the 160D and the Senn 650's and they work magic together. From live jazz recordingd to hip hop - the combo takes me there and makes me grin along the journey.   A lot more PRaT and oomph from the 650's 'cos of the Burson - remember, the Burson is a better sounding...

Anyone using the Burson Audio Headphone Amp 160?

I run the HA160D with Sennheiser HD650 headphones (and as a dac/pre-amp for my Dynaudio nearfield monitors) and am well pleased with its duties at both. It really seems to make the Sennheisers sound so much more authoritive and a much bigger soundstage.   The low level detail retrieval is...

Advice - Burson HD160 + Asus Xonar Essence St or Burson HD160D DAC/Amp combo

Go the 160D, it is a great one box solution that you will really appreciate as your headphone collection grows . .. unfortunately it will probably be a bit of a wait, unless you can find a store with one in stock. The DAC section is solid, natural, smooth and detailed - it grows on you as you...

Burson vs Lehmann for HD 800

I agree with you on your thoughts on the role of audio products and the passion and emotion of music. Everyone hears differently, everyone's ears and head are different shapes (which especially affects headphone listening), and everyone's life experience prompts different emotional responses...

Burson vs Lehmann for HD 800

... I noticed you stated that you mainly listen to classical . . .I have the HD650 and have listened to both the BCL and the Burson.   The BCL is technically adept and very agile . .. very fast . .. very good for metal, rock etc. . . very clean. The Burson has a terrific grip on the lower...

Funny you should ask this, as I was wondering the same thing.   I have a Burson HA160D due to me next week (on loan from local HiFi dealer), for audition and review  . .. . as he is a good friend of mine (and he has not heard it himself), he has kindly offered to lend it to me for a few...

Burson HA160 + Senn HD650 = a great match?? other amps that going well with HD650 are also welcomed

Hi Grokit.   As for QFT :   In a recent email I got from Burson Audio (in response to a question I had about the stepped volume) :   " . . . and you will find the step attenuator perfect for the HD-650 as we have initially designed the HA-160 to match it."       . . . as for...

    Sony MDR-7509-HD vs. 7509

I have both (running off a Mackie Onyx Satellite pro soundcard with 2 headphone outputs), and trust the 7509 a lot more for overall sound . . .the bass and lower mids are a little more (and a LOT warmer) . . .the 7509HD seem to magnify a proportion of of upper mid that does add detail, at the...

    Better sound in Hi-MD?

Okay, to try and help clear this up. ATRAC 3 (ie sp, lp2 and lp4) are all supported by HiMd (same as net md). The only difference is headphone amp in two models (mznh900 and mznh1 have Sony HD digital amps, no MD other than mze10 has had HD amp) so they will all sound pretty much the same...
