Yes comparison is when you notice if you really like the phones or not To let you know, the DAC used for the 2 comparisons I made were different. The transport/DAC with the Meier Concerto was the Cambridge Azur 840C (no headphone out), and the one for the Burson was Marantz SA7001...- musico

K701 thread
I had some nice experiences with the AKGs yesterday... I tried the stock AKG 701 vs the Hifiman LE-6 on a Meier Concerto amp. The AKG sounded really, really good, very refined sound full of texture an timbre in everything it played and not harsh in any areas (and it was unburned in AKG as...- musico

K701 thread
Hello, I got a question about using a recabled akg 701. I have the akg 701 recabled with apuresound to balanced with 4 pin xlr termination. But I want to use it for a non balanced amp, so I am thinking of using a 4 pin xlr to 1/4 inch adapter (from amateur cables). So I...- musico

Does anyone know the default gain settings of the Mk VI? I haven't opened it up to fiddle with it yet! Maybe I can just leave it as it is if its the right setting! Thanks!- musico

Hi everyone, Can't wait to use the amp, as am waiting for the DAC to arrive in a couple of days Is there a burn in time for the amp? On the instructions it talks about burning it in the amp, and I was wondering how long does it take? Also, I got some valves to replace the stock...- musico

Cleaning valve tubes - removing oxidation deposits
I was wondering about which product from the Caig range to use, there's the D series and the gold series... If you look at the pdf about which to choose, it suggests D series for used tubes with visible oxidation, and the gold for new tubes And it looks like the D series is stronger...- musico

Thank you for the great link to that tube comparison thread... I read in Glitche's posting on another thread that he liked the RCA black plate 6AS7G’s (power) and Raytheon VT-231 (driver) combination with the Mk VI. I was wondering about how tubes can be substituted. Eg instead of...- musico

Hi, I am about to get the Little Dot Mk VI, as I am getting my headphones modded. I was wondering about buying tubes, in this case 4 power and 2 driver. Does this mean that I need to get a matched quad for the power ones, or can I get 2 matched pairs to make up the quad? I have not...- musico

Buying Tubes
Hi all, I am wondering about buying tubes for a Little Dot Mk VI, and read about people getting 'matched pairs', and was wondering what this means and why? The Mk VI needs 4 power and 2 driver tubes, and was wondering... Does this mean that for the 4 power tubes, that a matched...- musico

Woo Audio WA6 vs Little Dot Mk VI
Speaking of balanced inputs to take advantages of the balanced sound, is the Little Dot DAC 1 pretty good, or the DAC Magic a better choice? The price range for new is different for them, but a second hand DAC magic could be an option?- musico

Woo Audio WA6 vs Little Dot Mk VI
Hey TheWuss, Make sure you give us your impressions of the Mk VI when it arrives! I am thinking of pairing it with a AKG701 balanced, and I've noticed you got the 702 so that will be pretty close.- musico

Woo Audio WA6 vs Little Dot Mk VI
Thanks for all the input so far! I guess in terms of sound, it's hard to describe, I guess I like to hear detail, but also a little warmth so that it sounds a little more acoustic... It's hard to describe, I guess I want it to sound as good as possible (dont we all!).... glitch, you...- musico

Woo Audio WA6 vs Little Dot Mk VI
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has compared the WA6 with the Little Dot Mk VI. I was thinking of tube amps, and these are in a similar price range of $600-700, and the LD is balanced, whereas the WA6 is not, but was wondering what are the differences, and which is better. Any input...- musico

Hi, You're absolutely right, I was thinking of the output of the LD mk vi... so disregard :_) I am looking at the pics of the reference 5... I guess the ACSS output is the 4 pin one in blue? And would it be true to say that when the posts above are saying that ACSS is...- musico

Hello, I was wondering, if I want to use the Reference 5 with an amp that accepts 4 pin XLR (like the Little Dot Mk VI), then how does the ACSS output connect to this? since most seem to say that the ACSS is the best output (and is the ACSS the balanced 4 pin output, as opposed to the 3...- musico

Little Dot MK VI
How long, in general, do tubes last for? In the past when using tubes for amplifiers for speakers, I had to replace them every 3 months or so, and the shop I got the amps from said this was so, and they did need frequent replacement (but maybe these were low quality tubes or something?)...- musico

Good 1/4 inch to RCA cable?
Hi all, I was wondering what are good "1/4 inch headphone to RCA" cables to get? I am connecting a Roland FP4 keyboard (1/4 inch headphone type jacks) to my sound card (RCA jacks) and will use it to record sounds from the Roland into the computer. Anyone know of good brands? Thanks!- musico

Amps are too loud.
