NiZn is empty at 1.6v. Doubling that would be 3.2v. Anyway, the red and green LEDs probably detect the high voltage charge, for the static electrical bias, in hundreds of volts.- jung

On eBay, NiZn is not more expensive than other rechargeable. And I use La Crosse BC-700, which charges NiZn very well, although designed for NiMH.- jung

So what's the verdict? All similarly priced portable players sound the same? Any sounds significantly better than others without costing significantly more? With EQ off, of course. Comparing portable players to other sources, do external DACs that are priced similar to portable...- jung
