    Sony MDR-1AM2 - Impressions Thread

Thanks for the responses guys! I didn't buy either of them after all. I already own an mdr-1a, so I went for an open back, a Sennheiser HD 599. Pretty satisfied. They are comparable to my Fidelio X2HR and are amazingly comfortable and light, like the mdr-1a.

    Sony MDR-1AM2 - Impressions Thread

Hey to all. Buyer's dilemma: MDR-1AM2 OR WH-1000XM4 for the same price? Sound quality and comfort are my main criteria. I was thinking of going with the latter for the wireless convenience/features but I will be using them mostly at home for music listening and the occasional call, wired too...

    LG V30

Try AIMP. Takes full advantage of the quad dac as far as I know. Free and with pretty good UI. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player

    LG V30

Just get one of them. At that price I would buy both probably. They use the exact same dac. Even if there are differences in the implementation I would bet my left nut you won't be able to hear them. Don't know about Shanling M0 or other daps but I wouldn't overthink it. These are a great deal...

    LG V30

With the Sony mdr-1a, the difference in listening experience between AUX and HIM modes is pretty big. They trigger HIM mode with the original cable with mic. As others have said, audio cables with microphones seem to trigger HIM mode. The Fidelio X2HR (30 Ohm) also sometimes randomly do and...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

There are 3 modes including normal, aux, HI. This unfortunately results in aux mode, better than normal but not high impedance. A significant difference in volume and maybe quality to an extend.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Has anyone found a way to trigger high impedance mode (50Ω) on LG Quad Dac phones? Would a lower resistance mini jack cable help? I would like to avoid impedance adapters. My Sony MDR-1a, although below 32Ω, somehow always triggers the 50Ω mode.

    LG V30

A strange thing with the Quad Dac. The Sony MDR-1A (<32Ω) are always triggering high impedance mode 50Ω (not aux) and sound amazing. The Philips Fidelio X2HR, also <32Ω, cannot trigger 50Ω mode. Only aux and normal. Has any X2/X2HR owner managed 50Ω mode on the V30? I have to turn up the volume...

Looking for a DAP that beats the LG V30+

My Sony MDR-1A, which are 24 ohms, trigger high impedance mode 95% of the time.

Greetings. I was wondering what's the difference in sound output/quality between FiiO A5/FiiO K3/FiiO Q1 II.

Has someone tried the LG HiFi Plus?

Could you please provide more detailed information on how to make LG HM audio recognize fully the HiFi module? I have the same problem with the previous guy. I connect it to PC with usb-c to usb-a cable and have installed the LG drivers. Foobar doesn't recognize the module with options for ASIO...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Yup. He certainly sounds a bit biased against M0 or toward AP80. "...far, far away from AP80 in almost any aspect..." I am having trouble believing that.

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Guys please: M1 or M0 for best SQ and/or best vfm? What's the consensus? M1 clearly better? M0 clearly better? It's a toss up and personal preference thing? There is no clear consensus? Forget those, get the M2s?

    Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

Wow. A lot of praise for Hidizs AP80! I am wondering why do you find the SQ to be that much better than Shanling M0. They use the same ESS chip and the M0 has a very decent sound according to various reviews. Sounds like AP80 is closer to Shanling M2s in SQ?

    Shanling m1 vs m0

Damn. A lot of useful responses here. I am in the same dilemma. I am also considering M2S and Hidizs AP80. I imagine M0 and M1 have very comparable SQ. I like the hardware buttons on the M1 and I like the touchscreen on M0. A combination would be great. AP80 does that and has the same ESS chipset.

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

Wow, AP80 is shaping up to be quite the vfm DAP. Comparable to Hiby R3? Fantastic. I may not be patient enough for October and grab a Shanling M0 though.

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

Thanks. So Hiby ships from Europe too? Do you know where specifically are their warehouses? Honestly, Hiby R3 looks like the perfect budget-midrange, high quality DAP. I wonder if the difference in SQ from other well reviewed but cheaper DAPs is worth it.
