My Nhoord drivers are due to arrive on Monday. Rholupat gimbals (black) shipped earlier this week will arrive soon, and my onyx manta ships out monday. My build should be done soon! I've got L-cush cups to start with... is there any point in getting a pair of G-cush to try with these drivers?

I'll have a pair of stock gimbals available soon and the vinyl headband cover, but will be reusing the rodblocks and metal band.

what characteristics do you attribute to "lively" and "dark" amps? Trying to determine where my custom SEP tube amp would sit and which of the 3 drivers tested would be better suited. I'm using a JDS Labs ODAC with Raspberry Pi and have typically used Klipsch speakers.. It's a very clean setup...

What are people using as the flat spring material in their headbands when going with custom gimbals/rod blocks? That seems to be the one piece I cannot source without scavenging a pair of OEM grados.

New to soldering, or new to rewiring headphones? If you're new to soldering, I wouldn't risk damaging the drivers. If you're good at soldering, however, just dismantle everything slowly and methodically and you'll be fine.

ya, i never should have sold my last pair. great physical condition and i did an awesome re-cable on them. ah well.

so has anyone come up with alternatives or diy solutions for the monitor 10 pads? i've got the itch to buy and recable another pair and am pretty sure the pads will need to be replaced on whatever pair i find.

i just got  my se425's yesterday and once I got everything fitted right they seem to be perfect for me. 30+ hours of usage should make them even better .. it's all about preference and how critical you really want/need to be.

I'm stuck between these and the klipsch s5i rugged for an all-purpose IEM ranging from gym to outside to at the laptop usage. both sets are right around the same price and both have respectable sound signatures, though I'm leaning towards the denon's if they're suitable for active use.
