    Epic Piano (does it exist?)

Thanks for the replies! Definitely some interesting stuff here. I've checked out a few (Ferrante & Teicher, Dresden Dolls, Keith Jarrett, …), but I'll take a look at all of them ASAP. The Desden Dolls remind me of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum somehow. Must be their style.   Keep 'em coming!

    Epic Piano (does it exist?)

I haven't been very active in this forum but I have come to a point where I need expert advice, so I though of you guys!    I'm (ideally) looking for a very specific kind of piano recording, but it seems I can't find that style anywhere. Does it even exist? I'm no piano expert; I've just...

Looking for help in choosing a portable amp (w/ DAC) for use with Westone 3's

Np. Yeah the D10 sounds great, but I must say in all honesty that while it seems like a very good amplifier (based on no experience with portable amps at all), with my Westone 3s it did not make such a drastic difference at all compared to the headphone out on my iPod Touch. In fact the...

Looking for help in choosing a portable amp (w/ DAC) for use with Westone 3's

Yes you won't have any problems with the cable being too short… in fact you may have problems with it being too long! The cable is 1 metre long approximately, and has two straight full-size TOSLINK connectors. So it's not meant for portable use, rather to plug into a home receiver or a computer...

So in essence if I'm looking for a sound signature similar to the ADA4841-2 (which highs I found were clearer than the AD8656; a good match for my W3's based on the short amount of time I spent listening to those two together) but without the interference, the AD8616 would be a good option...

8616? I don't have that in my kit; stock I had the ADA4841 with AD708 buffers. I thought it sounded damn good…

True but this is no background noise; its a very audible and sharp electronic-sounding glitch, followed by complete silence. I cannot imagine any RFI noise being so audible and occasional. If the opamps are OK then there is no way nobody else gets this noise… there shouldn't be more radio...

Ok I contacted iBasso support regarding the issue I stated earlier and they suggested rolling the opamps; I did that using their suggestion (AD8656 with the two dummy buffers) and the glitching is now gone! It's nice that I won't have to ship it back to China. What are your opinions...

Nope, tried it at home, at my gf's house and now I'm at school and it still does that. Of course there are some routers in all these places… but I tried it in the bus too and the glitch remains. Honestly if the wireless routers were the problem I'd be in big trouble

I've tried another interconnect already; I used the small ⅛" to ⅛" cable that comes with the iBasso with my MacBook Pro as well as my iBasso interconnect with my iPod. I just found out the glitch also occurs when nothing is plugged in the line in on the D10. So to recap I only have my W3's...

Hello there! New iBasso D10 user here! I'm using it with my new Westone 3's which I happened to receive the same day as the D10 nice coincidence. First impressions: The amp sounds great, looks and feels great too. Second impressions: When listening to smooth music or when the...

Looking for help in choosing a portable amp (w/ DAC) for use with Westone 3's

Well I guess the long post deterred people from reading it and posting some answers… but for those of you who face a similar dilemma, in the end I decided to purchase the iBasso D10. In essence the Pico and Predator cost about 2x more than the iBasso, and according to a review by...

Looking for help in choosing a portable amp (w/ DAC) for use with Westone 3's

Hello there, I'm quite new to this forum although I lurked quite a bit looking for info on Grado GR8's, Westones and now headphone amps. Please bear with me as this is a pretty long post; I want to give a good idea of my situation. I understand there are many threads that compare amps w/ DACs...

    New Grado GR8 In-Ear Earphones!

I would be interested about hearing more about the GR8's. Personally I own SR325i's (previously SR80's) and I love them. The sound of my Shure 110's does not come close to the sound of the Grados. I also own a NAD (amp+CD) / Monitor Audio RS1 (speakers) / Energy (sub) stereo system which...
