Single-DD IEM for heavy and metal genres
Recently I've been keeping the following IEMs in my rotation: * UM 3DT (favorites) * CFA Andromeda * Noble x Drop K10 * ThieAudio Clairvoyance I honestly love all of them. But it does make me feel that I'm kind of 'done' with BA/hybrid type IEMs. These cover everything I love. The only thing...- Pott

IEM between K10s and Fearless SF8F?
I've been alternating between these two; the K10s have more body overall, while the presentation of the SF8 may just be a bit more to my liking. Is there somewhere a unicorn that's a more full-bodied SF8F perhaps? Thanks for any recs! Source: Phone, Spotify, highest quality, DragonFly Red...- Pott

Not enjoying the CA Atlas: single-DD IEMs to replace them? Less bass, more balanced tone with punch
The music styles I like require punchy/dynamic sounds (Technical metal genres... or Chanson Francaise), but it turns out I am NOT a basshead. I got them on the cheap and figured, even though I knew they were bassy, they couldn't be all THAT much. But they are. Oh they are so, so much. I...- Pott

Other IEMs similar to Etymotic form-factor, for a different sound?
I have narrow ear canals., which has so far meant I can fit neither: * IEMs: typical IEMs will never get me a seal. no matter the tip or material used. I have tried A TON (non-exhaustive list: Massdrop Plus and EDC3, Campfire Audio Lyra II, Polaris II, and Atlas, iBasso IT01s, Ultimate Ears...- Pott

What CIEMs/companies offer T2/IPX connectors? (other than UE/InEarz)
I got the SuperBax cable with my InEarz Euphoria, and they also work with my UltimateEars UE7s. The cable is AMAZING for those like me who have glasses! I don't plan on collecting cables; I'd like to procure a third CIEM that'd be somewhat in the middle of my two pairs, but I'd much rather use...- Pott

CIEM recommendation; UE7 has too little bass, InEarz Euphoria has too little treble. Middle-ground?
I recently got two pairs of CIEMs: * Ultimate Ears 7: great shallow fit, good technically, narrower soundstage and recessed bass * InEarz Euphoria: deeper fit, but similar seal. Better isolation but that wasn't lacking with the UEs. Great soundstage and presentation, recessed treble and very...- Pott

New to CIEMs; do can they come with shallower fit? (UE CSX vs. classic CIEM fit)
For the longest time I've had fit issues with Universals. I always suspected mis-matched ear-canals, with the lefty one being narrower. I tried to find tips that'd work, but the only ones giving me fit and seal were Westone's, and therefore the only IEMs that'd work for me are those with a...- Pott

Etymotic ER4XR vs. Westone W40s
I'm selling all my IEM collection in preparation for a couple of Customs to arrive (Ultimate Ears Pro 7s and InEarz Euphoria). I'd like to keep one set of Universals but due to fit issues, I can only get IEMs with a narrow bore. I currently have the Westone W20s and Massdrop x NuForce EDC3s...- Pott

CIEMs for metal (Death/Tech/Folk) under 1k?
I'm about to get my impressions done, and I want to start thinking about Custom in-ears. I'm not willing to spend a fortune; definitely sub 1k USD, most-likely sub 600. I'd like a pair with good fit for heavy music; good instrument clarity, great mids for those vocals and guitar tones, and...- Pott

IEMs for Metal (fit issues with most models)
I'm trying to achieve end-game for my travel setup, and I realized that my choice is fairly limited overall due to: * No lossless/hi-res; I prefer to stay under $600 to avoid unpleasant source-caused surprises * My left ear canal is too small and typical IEMs don't fit Over the past few months...- Pott

Bluetooth receiver or BT DAC to connect to an Amazon Echo?
Currently my Echo dot outputs to a pair of JBL305s through its 3.5mm analog output. It's not ideal. I'd like to improve on this as I have several DACs here and there which would be a good upgrade. I could either go with a BT receiver, and then DAC line-out -> powered speakers, or go straight...- Pott

Matrix Quattro II first impressions
(I also posted this on Massdrop) I received the Quattro II today and tested it on two PCs: a) my laptop w/dock at work, where it replaced a Topping D50 + Schiit magni3. This unit is definitely an improvement here, the whole sound felt wider and more expansive. I really enjoyed it. This was...- Pott

Case for IEMs: soft on inside, smaller than Pelican 1010?
I'd like to carry my Noble x Massdrop, a USB OTG Cable, and an Audioquest DragonFly Red DAC/Amp in a single box. Currently I put all three in the typical small case you get with Westone/Massdrop Plus IEMs, but it's a little small. The 1010, by comparison, is way too big. Something just a...- Pott

Sub $300 IEMs: Shure 425, Westone 20 series, iBasso IT03, NuForce HEM/Primo 8?
I recently got some IT01s which are fun to listen to, but a little large for my ears and not the best at note separation, which is expected for the price :) I'm pondering an upgrade, with an emphasis on fun vs. analytical sound signatures, for guitar-based music and high-quality encoding files...- Pott

NuForce Primo 8 vs. HEM4 vs. ?
Both are $199 on Amazon right now, and well, I liked what I read on reviews for both! It seems the Primo8's focus is on the mids, which fits my guitar-driven music tastes. But the HEM4 appears more versatile overall. I listen mostly to technical Death Metal styles these days: and while I don't...- Pott

Budget CIEMs: worth it or not? (NOT for Lossless, long-term listening comfort a priority)
I just got back into the IEMs game with some iBasso IT01s. They sound very good as far as I can tell so far, but they're a constant reminder that I never seem to find tips I enjoy (my ear-canal on the left ear is MUCH narrower than the right. Foams have never suited me, and silicon is too...- Pott

IEMs for flying, Spotify Extreme + phone, no separate amp/DAC
I've been out of the IEM/headphone game for several years, using mostly Audio Technica M50s at home and in the office (through a Schiit DAC Jotunheim and Schiit Magn3/Bifrost respectively), and Sony MDR-1000Xs when flying. I love the Sonys; they can plug into the in-flight entertainment system...- Pott

Need a DAC with balanced outputs for PC setup (lossless, MP3, Spotify, movies etc...), with powered monitors
I currently have a PC going through a Focusrite Scarlet 2i4, themselves connected to (... don't laugh) a pair of Rokit5 G3s. The Focusrite sounds fine, but I don't think my PC likes it... It sometimes just cuts-off, and I have to disable/re-enable it and restart whatever audio software I have...- Pott

Travel headphones (sorry...) with sound-quality emphasis?
I have two pairs of Audio Technica M50s (work + home) and two of the ESW9s (don't ask!). They are the sound I enjoy and I've not really been looking to upgrade. I've used a variety of headphones for travel; most often the V-Moda M100s (super nice but stop being comfortable after 5+hours), the...- Pott

Broken ESW9s... Replacement, or new model?
Nothing a bit of glue couldn't fix, thankfully! Anyway I remember a few months back when I first heard the ESW9s... I'd JUST gotten some Beyer T51s to replace my Moda M100s, and some ATH-MSR7s for the office. I decided to give the ESW9 a chance anyway and I was blown away. They've been my...- Pott

Upgrading Moda M100s and ATH-M50s: Sony MDR1-A?
I had to drop the M100s for a while and used the HD25s daily for a couple of months. I missed the comfort of the M100s so I reverted... but now I miss the clarity and treble accuracy of the HD25s! I also have a pair of M50s at home for my PC, which are very, very 'gentle' sounding. Very soft in...- Pott

Replacing Cowon J3: Sony, Fiio?
I have an old J3 but it's getting tight on space... Got the 16GB version with a 32GB card; I don't think it supports higher capacity cards, does it? There's a few things I love about the player: *Battery life is amazing and this is a huge criteria for me *I have a custom UI on the music...- Pott

Controlling/streaming music throughout the whole house, and multiple speaker sets, but only one media player?
Having moved into a multi-room apartment, I find myself wishing for a more comprehensive sound system which would allow me to stream to multiple speaker sets. Insonorising a room... or wall.
For the very first time in my existence, I am facing thin walls, and my neighbor has shown at least once in the three days I've been here to be unappreciative of my 24/7 music playing (er... not quite, but close). I have no issues with this: if my music is too loud, I turn it down, and it's my...- Pott
