Matrix M-Stage 6.5mm jack issue / Low frequency trembling sound

I have a problem with my Matrix M-Stage. It usually works good for a while, but then there comes this low trembling noise creeping and eventually overtakes everything. When I press with downward force on my 6.5mm jack I can sometimes make it stop. This makes me believe there is something wrong...

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

I'm looking to exchange my current USB DAC iBasso D3 for something that's a little more suited for gaming and I'm currently thinking about buying one of the Creative cards. For headphones I use the AKG K701 with the Matrix M-Stage for amplification. Therefore, I think (given the nature of the...

Headphones with a max input power of 30mW vs 100MW?

I don't think one should accuse OP for making awful sounding mixes just because he uses Skullcandy.   Anyway, the 100mW thing is probably because they require more power to function at it's best (bigger drivers maybe?).

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

Quote:   Indeed it is! Got it pretty cheap because it wasn't in working order. My first ever turntable and I'm happy with the sound. Michael Jackson, for instance, was a completely new (and better) experience :)

Having a hard time picking out a nice pair of headphones,

ESW9. Very punchy and detailed. Like you, when I've hade enough of my (most awesome) neutral K701, ESW9 is the bad boy I tend to.

Quote:   Thank you! Though the V6 seems to have red stripes on the cups while these seem to have blue. Is there any difference?

When do you need an amp?

Kind of depends on what output you already have... I see those are rated at 28.5 Ohms. I have a pair of Audio Techinca ESW9 at 32 Ohms, plays fine through an iPod Nano 5G unamped, but with my Sanza Clip they benefit from amplification. But I only knew that because I've heard the difference...

Thinking of getting Audio Technica ATH-ESW9 phones . . .

I like them a lot. I don't think there's much, if any, difference when amping them. Haven't tried them with any source other than the iPod Nano 5th gen though but it seems to drive them good enough.

    What's your foobar2000 setup?

A slightly modified version of someone's foobar skin (Kabuki and Foodly or something like that...). Very nice except that it stutters occasionaly as if it's buffering... Can't figure out why.

    Need Help! Ibasso D4

I tried to do something similar when I first got my D4. However, the X-Fi need some kind of I/O module to be able to send it's signal to the D4 via AUX (it says the cards got I/O but it's appearantly som kind of dumb solution by Creative). I game with my D4 DAC and it's not for the worse...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

I'm using my K701's at 10dB gain. I think the hissing becomes more noticable when the amp has been on for a while... I'm also using my D4 as DAC aswell as my X-Fi, and switching between the modes/unplugging etc did not remove the hiss.
