Suggestions for headphones to use with my Ipod

If I help you find some headphones, will you let me have your job? All joking aside (although I'm not really joking...), you should look into some Sennheiser HD-25's. They're lightweight, sound great, and require very little power to sound good. But, they're about $200 American. Not sure what...

Is the low sensitivity of K271's outweighed by their isolation? (iPod use)

Well, I've ordered some 271's from www.djmart.com, and we'll see how I like them. -Jesse

Is the low sensitivity of K271's outweighed by their isolation? (iPod use)

Thanks guys. Nak Man, bass is not a big issue with me. As long as it's there, and it sounds accurately reproduced, then I don't need to have ear-splittingly powerful bass extension. However, I am a stickler for smooth mid-bass and mids, and crisp, clear highs. -Jesse

Is the low sensitivity of K271's outweighed by their isolation? (iPod use)

Okay, here's the deal. I'm looking for a set of closed cans for my iPod. I won't be walking around with them, though, so it's not really "portable" use. More like sitting in the bookstore with my iPod and headphones in a comfy chair I don't want canalphones or in-ear phones - I had a set of...

    Sending my ER-4P's back.

Well, I've tried them out over the last few days, and while I like the sound, I just don't like how they feel. They're not uncomfortable by any means...it just feels like there's a crayon stuck down my ear. Plus, I do a lot of moving around during the day - lots of walking around and talking to...

    How to define DETAIL

As I understand it, audiophile "detail" is the attention that speakers/headphones/whatever can pay to everything that may be happening simultaneously in a recording, and their subsequent ability to reproduce these simultaneous sounds. -Jesse

So....is the jury still out on the bass question? -Jesse

A couple of reaaaaaally dumb questions..

First, regarding bass. How do tiny in-ear headphones produce bass? I thought the entire point of bass was moving enough air in a room at a low frequency, which requires woofers with a relatively large surface area with powerful drivers behind them. How do little in-ear 'phones produce bass? Is...

    How comfortable are the ER-4P's?

I just read 3 or 4 reviews that mentioned the discomfort of putting something that far down your ear canal, so now I'm a little worried :/ The ear buds that came with the iPod are really bothering me, but I think it's just because they're large pieces of uncomfortable plastic sitting in my...

    How comfortable are the ER-4P's?

Awesome. Thanks again for your help, guys. I just ordered some from www.earplugstore.com - they have a 30-day full refund policy with no restocking fee, so if I don't like them, I can just return them and only pay shipping. I paid $205 plus shipping for the full retail kit. Not a bad deal...

My portable setup sounds better compared to my home one!

I'll be extremely surprised if you ever catch me saying the same thing My home setup is a Cambridge Audio Azur 540c CD player going into a Cayin TA-30 integrated amp, which drives Klipsch RF-7's, their flagship speaker in the Reference line. In the right room, it sounds fantastic. The day...

    How comfortable are the ER-4P's?

Very good suggestions, guys. Thanks. EightyEight, I would think the ER-4P's would be more suited to me since I'm using a low-powered portable mp3 player (the iPod). I read many times that mp3 player amplifiers aren't powerful enough to make the ER-4S's sound as good as they can. That's...

    How comfortable are the ER-4P's?

After doing a lot of lurking and reading, I've decided to go with the ER-4P's for my iPod 3G 15GB model. I'm a clarity guy, so I think they're right for me. I have a question though...just how comfortable are they? There's a good chance I could be wearing them several hours a day (I carry my...
