Thanks. Sliding did the trick. My replacement headband came just as you described. Also, the clamp force on the new one is not nearly as skull-crushing as the original. Maybe these were made not to suck?

Does anyone have any tips for replacing the headband? I'm trying to attach the yokes to the cups but the cups seem way too wide to be able to snap onto the yoke from both sides. I feel like If I stretch the yoke enough so that they can wrap around the cup then it's going to snap like the last one.

How do you like the Dekoni pads? Do they smooth out the treble at all?

Yeah I guess it never hurts to ask. I'm wondering if the yokes that have been breaking are in any way distinguishable from the older ones. They look the same from the pictures I've seen.

So I just got an email back from Hifiman and they are sending me a new headband free of charge, so we will see how that goes. I don't have a lot of faith that this new headband won't do the same thing, considering someone else already had theirs replaced and the new one did the same thing. Of...

I guess I spoke too soon, my headband just cracked as well. Unreal. So they charged $70 to replace a faulty part with the same part that has been failing for other recent buyers? And they can't even guarantee that you won't have to pay another $70 after a month? It's not like we are talking...

According to Hifiman they switched the boxes to cut down on shipping costs. They wanted me to take a picture of the balanced cable though lol.

That's interesting. My Adorama pair also came in a cardboard box but it came with a balanced cable. The earcups also swivel. No idea what is going on.

I got in on the Adorama deal last week. No issues so far. Was everyone able to register their pair online?

Quote:   1. True, but in this case we are just talking about a revision of the same product. If it were truly a new product, then it would make sense to promote it before release, as many companies do.   2. It makes sense that if you hint about a revision, people stop buying- Why...

Kinda sucks for the people who got the MD's during the holidays (me).  Ah well, I'm happy for now.

Quote: Haha there's usually at least one similar comment per page. I was skeptical of the all too common FOTM/New toy syndrome for the first few months, but the 15-day trial is what sold me. I wonder how many people have actually sent their MD's back, besides those who were never intending...

Do Grados Look Ugly? Or Do They Look Cool?

MS2i, HF2, and the PS500 look pretty sweet to me. I also like the buttonless RS1/2's and MSPros. I've never seen the GS1000 in person, but it looks beautiful in pictures IMO.

    MS-2 (MS-2i) appreciation thread

Quote: Be prepared; there's quite a difference. The MS2i's are more forward in the mids, and the treble is definitely more prominent. You may miss the warmth of the bass from the Mad Dog. Just make sure you don't give up on the MS2i's immediately, as your ears may need time to adjust. I...

Mad dog for edm? And what amp?

You're better off asking in the Mad Dog thread; most people here haven't heard them.

    How loud is too loud

There are far too many variables to consider. Assuming a quiet environment, the best thing to do is to start out at just a tad lower than normal volume, and wait for your ears to adjust (usually a few minutes). You can then continue to lower the volume very slightly every few minutes.  You'll...

Quote:   This perfectly sums up my feelings. Although I think soundstage is most dependent on the recording, the MD's are of course a bit narrow compared to an open can.

Can the Sennheiser Hd-800 be powered by a fiio e09k+e17 and sound good?

So how did you manage a pair of HD800's?

Where to demo headphones in Dallas?

Yeah I'm surprised there aren't more places to choose from in Dallas. I've been searching for a while and haven't really found anything other than what's been mentioned.
