The actual speaker driver is ripped or something. I can barely play it at lower levels with out it sounding like crap.

I'm starting to get that feeling :o I loved my NAD amp and it seemed to pair really well with my Onix ref 1's. I could go down that route again... Peachtree Audio is intriguing but I doubt I could get a used one under a grand. Too many choices out there! :rolleyes:

Did AV123 make the Onix Ref 1's? I have a pair at that cabin and absolutely love them. By far the best sounding speaker I've ever heard.

Yes, passive speakers. Still debating between bookshelf and floor standing speakers but I don't want to go powered. Ill take a look at the stealths but from the looks of it (aesthetics matter in this case), it doesn't look nearly as class as the focus 160's nor the kef r series.
