I think the DX240 wins out for me based on everything I've read

Much weaker amp than those in my list, like half the power or less.

I guess I could throw in the A&K Kann Alpha as well but getting what I've heard they're behind in usability and updates usually.

Sound quality is some what subjective, in my reading I've seen some prefer the 240 and some prefer the M6U.

I currently have an iBasso DX150, it's been a great sounding DAP to me and powers my MrSpeakers AEON Flow Closed and HiFiMan Ananda well, however it is extremely slow, using it is quite frustrating because of how slow it is, and the battery life is terrible, definitely not getting anywhere near...

Forgot to point out I'm using 2.5mm balanced connections on both the HiFiMan and the AEONs

They're not that hard, the DX150 drives them with absolutely no problem whatsoever, just the speed and battery that sucks.

what you're "hearing" is confirmation bias That should already be in the recording, an amp should be a wire with gain, period.

Very highly overrated, if your amp sounds different, it's broken, about should impart no sound of their own.

Actually sounds like you need me to walk you through the math, if you're not clipping and it's loud there's only one way to get there, you have enough power.

You don't even need close to one watt, people power them from iPhones just fine. I have an iBasso DX150 running balanced to mine which is 425mW to at 32 ohms so well short of 1W at 16 and it gets lots enough to be painful.

Well I am an engineer and this whole scaling and power debate is BS.

I'm using the DX150 with these or if the stock AMP6 balanced and it is great.
