Hi all,   I unfortunately have a broken cable on my hands for hte HE-500 (stock cable).   Does anyone know if this is fixable? Thanks!

Hi IwasDerp,   I am basically in the same position as you! I believe you need a L7 in order to connect the output of the FiiO E17 to the emotiva. The L7 allows you to use the E17 as a standalone DAC, bypassing the amp portion. 

Guess ill pick up an emotiva and see how i like it! I hope i get the cabling figured out though.

so if i get a robinette box and a speaker amp, thatll be all i need to connect the headphones to the amp?  i assume ill need cables to connect the box to the amp (provided?) sorry, im terribly noob when it comes to the electronics, but it sounds convenient, and cosmetically nice too :)

Just got my HE-500's and am loving them. Driving from a fiio e17 but thinking about getting a Matrix M-stage or a schiit combo...my limit is about 250. any suggestions? Not sure how much sound quality ill get from upgrading and if its even necessary.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have no experience with speaker amps, and im not sure if im comfortable with putting in resistors to get rid of the background noise...might have to look for a dedicated headphone amp.
