Slightly off topic but when I bought my ER4Ps back in 2007 they cost $179, when did they go up to $299?- Rooford

RE0's - am I missing something?
The OP is topical for me, I took a plunge on a pair of RE0 after reading the reviews on this forum. I've been trying to like them for 3 days. I found the best sound from the large stock tips, with minimal insertion to achieve a seal. Listening to Massive Attack - Angel, the sub bass intro...- Rooford

Blind Test - Take Now!
I'll bite, I can't tell the difference. Although I would say it's difficult to tell with very percussive music, for me at least bit rate makes a difference for synth, strings or cymbals where the aliasing is more noticable probably because there's fewer bits available to capture the wide range...- Rooford

Going to London. Tips?
Hi, I lived in London for six years, some of my favourite places: Regent Street / Oxford Street for shopping although Covent Garden / Neal Street / Floral Street are great too for less mainstream clothing. Camden (Camden Lock) and Soho are also great to explore although be...- Rooford

Well recorded metal?
Andy Sneap is well regarded as a metal mix engineer/producer: I'd recommend anything he's had a hand in, a couple of people have already mentioned albums he's credited with mixing (Opeth, Megadeth), you can see a full list here: ... -
SOHA II Builders Thread
Hi, Completed my SOHAII build over the weekend after a few errors (E12 regulators were reversed) it sounds great. Kudos to Alex for the design and making it available to the DIY community. However, with sensitive earphones (Etymotic) I did get a constant amount of hum despite trying...- Rooford

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
Hi, Thanks for the advice, I replaced Q25 and the board passed the initial setup checks Snap on the screeching in three channel configuration, with apple earbuds and the volume turned down, trying with other headphones I don't get screeching. Could the amp screeching be oscillation...- Rooford

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
Hi, I had a mishap with my 3 channel B22. The problem is with the ground channel. After hooking up probes to R9 and powering on, I saw a couple of sparks by the probe and powered down. Looking at the board I nipped/scrapped the board coating and probably shorted the left side of R9 to the...- Rooford

We Got Ti Kan (AMB) an HD800!
I'm in. I've built a M3, Y1/Y2 Gamma, Mini3, Sigma 22, Sigma 11 and almost complete Beta 22. Each project is very well documented with explanations regarding the design along with clear build instructions. It's evident Ti has sunk a lot of time into not only the design of these projects but...- Rooford

The GrubDAC
Just wanted to say thanks for putting this DAC together, it took 3 hours to build although I've not cased it yet. So far I'm impressed! It sounds good from the off, in comparison to the Bantam DAC which sounded a little muddy to begin with. I guess the absence of capacitors in the audio...- Rooford

USB quality - does it make any difference?
Yep in totally agreement with you AdamWysokinski. It doesn't matter if you spend large amounts of cash on a dedicated USB out. If the clocks on either side are different it doesn't matter. In practical terms this problem can be all but eliminated using clever hardware techniques, as the...- Rooford

USB quality - does it make any difference?
Hi, There will always be jitter of some sort on a USB interface as there isn't a dedicated clock connection. The USB cable has four wires 2 for power, 2 for digital transmission there isn't clock line. Therefore the sending clock (the USB bus on the computer) and receiving clock (the DAC)...- Rooford

Comments for my PCM2702 DAC layout?
Hi, I've built two BantamDACs and have to say I'm really pleased with them. To my ears it takes 10 hours or so for the output capacitors to really break in. I thought I'd add a couple of notes for anybody using Ubuntu/Amarok/Alsa drivers as I don't think it's been covered in this thread...- Rooford
