Beyerdynamic T1 or the Sennheiser HD600?
Given your budget limitations, I'd recommend the HD600. Very good cans. With a sympathetic amp of sufficient quality, the T1 is superior, no question.- carledwards

Audeze LCD-3 Impressions Thread
I absolutely adore these headphones for well-recorded rock and any music with electric instruments such as jazz fusion, etc. I've settled on using them with my β22.- carledwards

HD800 + $1,000-$2,500 Amp = Sonic Bliss?
I've been totally happy with the Ray Samuels Audio Raptor and some vintage tubes with my HD800. Can't imagine anything I'd want in the sound that it doesn't deliver!- carledwards

Beyerdynamic T1
Reviving this thread to say that I just got my T1's and am really liking them with Woo and Ray Samuels tube amplification. I'm also enjoying them very much with rock...so far. Haven't had the pleasure of checking them out with classical and jazz yet but that will come in time.- carledwards

New Audeze LCD3
I got mine yesterday from a great Head-Fier and I'm very impressed. So far, I've tried jazz, rock and classical. All stellar. I'm using a 2 channel Beta 22 for amplification. It's gonna be hard to listen to other cans for a while, I think!- carledwards

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
After literally a couple of years deliberating, I finally got my 800's today. Haven't spent a lot of time with them yet but what I've heard so far is very good. Nice match with my RSA Raptor. Looking forward to many hours of musical enjoyment from these cans. I'm wondering why I waited so long!- carledwards

Portable amp for AKG K701
Outstanding advice. I have the little Ray Samuels Hornet and it is particularly impressive, especially for its size. Never really tried to drive the 701s with it, however. Wouldn't surprise me if it did a really nice job. Ray is VERY good. Quote:- carledwards

Going to get the hd650s unless someone has some last minute suggestions.
Love the 650 with my Ray Samuels Raptor. Bass and soundstaging are both very good. Both smooth and detailed. Not my go-to choice for rock, however. I use them mainly for jazz and classical.- carledwards

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
I've been really enjoying the relative neutrality of the 600 with my Woo 3 lately while doing needle drops. Definitely a different beast from the AKG 601 or my previous use of the Beyer 990/600ohm in the same setup.- carledwards

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Via my Marantz SACD player and Ray Samuels Audio Raptor, the 650s are absolutely all I want. I listen to acoustic jazz and classical almost exclusively with them and they're great. At one point I was going to make the big financial leap to the 800s but I just like this combination so well, I see...- carledwards

Best amp for K701 - my wallet is generous.
While I think the Woo 6 works well with these cans, I still prefer the Heed Canamp. It's just a good match and the price is not that high, either.- carledwards
