Thanks guys! I reluctantly had to sell my B&W P7 as the headband was just too tight for me. I tried putting it over a box for several days, but it didn't help. I should have gotten the Momentum 2.0!

Jumping from the HD650 to the HD800.

Sorry, I haven't heard HD800 or Beyerdynamic DT990, so I can't comment on those.   It sounds to me like you are intrigued by the HD800 and very curious to hear it, and that you need to get that out of your system before even considering getting HD700 instead :) I'd certainly love to listen...

Jumping from the HD650 to the HD800.

I got HD700 a few weeks ago after using HD600 for 8 years. It is a little bright for sure.   I had very mixed feelings about it to begin with - sometimes I could listen to music and just enjoying it a lot without noticing any brightness, other times I literally could not stand listening to...

Tube amp for HD700 - confused about which one to pick!

I'm looking at a bunch of different tube amps for my Sennheiser HD700, but it's hard to decide on one. For example is the "extra" price of amps such as Woo WA3 ($599) or Elise ($689+) worth it/necessary compared to getting a somewhat cheaper amp such as Valhalla 2, Lyr 2, Little Dot MK4 etc...

    Marantz HD-DAC1

Thanks.   I've decided I'm gonna pass on this. I've already got a Graham Slee Solo Ultra Linear headamp which matches very well with my HD700, so all I really need is a DAC.

How does it pair with Sennheiser HD700?

Tube amp for hot little apartment - bad idea?

I keep seeing people who recommend using a tube amp with Sennheiser HD700, however my small apartment is very well insulated and it gets hot in here quickly. Since I'm likely to have the tube amp turned on all day, I'm worried if the extra heat will be a problem. What do you guys think? Are...

Little Dot MK VI / Little Dot MK VIII SE Owners Unite

Get the one with ULN in the name, it has the lowest rpm and is the most quiet according to Noctua's homepage. I have two Noctua fans in my pc and they really are excellent. Very quiet. But they don't come cheap compared to other fans. Price is worth it though if you value quiet-operating...

Neutral headphone suggestions in two price ranges....

Beyerdynamic DT-660 sounds great and are neutral. Many people love them for classical music for this reason. I bought a.pair myself but returned them as I found build quality to be lacking. Also my ears got very hot very quickly. But try them yourself and see what you think.

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

Got HD700 a few weeks ago after using HD600 for 8 years. At first I did find them awfully bright but now after 100 hours of burn in it's only something I notice on specific recordings or if I deliberately focus on how the treble area sounds. Switching amp from Meier Audio Corda Classic to Graham...

    Need Help | Comfortable Open-Back Headphones | Warm Sound | Budget $700-1000

I'm sorry, but using reviews and other people's comments on forums is not a very reliable way of picking a hifi purchase that will work for you.   Take the Sennheiser HD700 for instance - try reading about it online. A lot of people absolutely hate this particular headphone, calling it overly...

High Quality Sound Closed Headphones for Classical Music - budget £100-250

Last month I had some Beyerdynamic DT 660's home for testing for a week or so. It has a great, neutral sound signature that works well for classical music (which is 95% of what I hear), however my ears got hot in no time from using the DT 660. Therefore I can't recommend these cans for use in...

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

Thank you for a good tutorial.   I use Windows 7 and Equalizer APO w/Peace frontend in the following.   My first attempt to EQ Sennheiser HD700 has resulted in these EQ values:     I'll probably have to experiment some more to find the perfect values for me, but for now I think this...

    Audiolab M-DAC - still competitive?

Can it be true that this DAC released back in 2010 (I think?) is still a good choice today?   What Hifi still recommends it - it even won their "Best DAC £500-£700" award just last year (it was beaten this year by Chord Mojo).   There's got to have been released many new DACs since 2010, so...

I have to rely on my memory here but I did think the M2 was much less versatile compared to the HD600. It colors the sound and has a narrower sound stage. HD600 really are some killer headphones which I recommend highly. Since then I also got a pair of B&W P7 which I think makes a good contrast...

Which iPad apps can access foobar2000 running on main pc?

I've got foobar2000 running on my stationary pc and want to access it remotely with my iPad Mini Retina.   I'm using MonkeyMote right now (http://www.monkeymote.com/), however the volume control is rather small to work with my big fingers.   Which other iPad apps can I use to access...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Stan (& others too):   I'm using a cheap Behringer HA4700 headphone amp with the HD600 - here's the manual for it: http://www.behringer.com/assets/HA4700_HA8000_P0184_M_EN.pdf   Could I get a much improved sound quality by replacing the Behringer with for example a Schiit Audio Vali (for...

Headphones for iPad-use - how many Ohm?

Ok, thanks. I must say that after getting the P7s, new headphones are not at all a priority for me. But knowing myself, then sooner or later I'll probably become curious enough to try and buy a different pair of phones :)   I love the sound of the P7s btw. - had a bunch of headphones home...

Headphones for iPad-use - how many Ohm?

Thanks everybody :)   I found some used B&W P7 headphones which I bought so it will be a while before I can afford more headphones. But I was thinking about some of the closed-model Beyerdynamic headphones: DT 770 Pro, for instance. It comes in various Ohm-versions which is confusing, at...
