The Cayin C5 portable power house.
I havent tried any of the c5s but I have an e12. Lemme tell ya. The e12 is ridiculously overhyped. It makes big power sure. It will get loud with hard to drive sets. The sound isn't just dark. Doesn't just lack soundstage. It's a cheap sound. The sound of compromise... The bass and sub bass are...- rock&rollfrenchfries

My Fiio E12 dropped. should I be worried?
Yea i was saying I actually wish it had died because it kinda sucks. I just did a back to back with my low tier denon receiver worth maybe 50 bucks today. Guess which one has leaps and bounds more resolution. bout to get back on the hunt for the right receiver.- rock&rollfrenchfries

Hi guys any help would be appreciated. I was using the e12 as a desktop amp till it slid off my desktop and clapped to the floor. Now it turns on but no sound comes out... So anyways I didn't mind it and was happy enough but now that it's dead of course i dont just want another e12. Looking for...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Can my AV receiver substitute for an amp/DAC?
it's worth a try since you have it anyways. You can spend a lot of money on head-fi equipment and still come out dissapointed i'll put it that way. I've wondered myself if just the right receiver with the convenient little bass and treble adjustments or even paired with one of the old equalizers...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Many AV Receivers/Stereo Integrated amps do NOT use opamp powered headphone jacks
Question. Can anyone tell from these nudies? Basically what do you think? I'm probably going to look at one of these a short drive away and slightly cheaper. But just as clean. Worth a look? ...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
I'd be interested to hear what exactly your reasons are. That you also say you will never ever own a pair of beats. Also I'd like to point out my post above about how this is somewhat of a misunderstanding. At any rate I cant exactly try everything not really having any can jams or good...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
My non audiophile peeps who I speak of are not coming from beats. Just car audio junkees or general hardasses who need to crank it up. 2 different conversations there sort of. I was just chiming in my stance on beats because it was being discussed. THEN in a separate context or whatever I...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
I hate beats because of dr dre. It is what it is. I would never spend a dime on beats anything even if i liked the sound. And all the celebrities wearing them and advertisement only pushes me further away. Not to mention the people I tend to see wearing beats out in RL. I do not want to be one...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Review: ZMF Modified Fostex T50RP. Superb!
Ive got many many miles on my basics now and I absolutely love them. The obvious upgrade from here for me is the zmf master model, though I am admittedly curious on the he-400. I'll have to decide when the moment comes. I'll probably just keep it zmf these are so damn smooth. I'm the type...- rock&rollfrenchfries

I agree that these are sensitive to the signature of the amp/ also nicely responsive to eqing with a good eq. Likewise they are revealing of a fakey sounding windows eq or many average portable player eqs. And yes even these v1s can bang pretty good if you like to eq with a good eq or if...- rock&rollfrenchfries

Sorry just one more update on the magni... Ive had it for a week. The headphone cable is plugged in straight and the cable is not stressing the jack at all. Looking for entry to tubes and rolling. and warmth Little dot or Bravo, or anything else.
I am looking for an amp that keeps the upper mids to highs under control and is overall warm and smooth and still dynamic but in a nice non fatiguing way, and/or has good tuneability to get there. Also changing opamps may be considered. Powering zmf t50rp (similar to mad dogs in regard to...- rock&rollfrenchfries
